E-Girls Right Foundation Holds Breast Cancer Walk and Wellness Seminar in Gbaramatu Kingdom
The E-Girls Right Foundation, founded by Hon. Stella Okotete, Executive Director of The Nigerian Export-Import Bank (NEXIM), has organized a Pink Breast Cancer Walk, Screening, and Wellness Seminar at Oporoza Community, the traditional headquarters of Gbaramatu Kingdom in Delta State.
The event, jointly hosted by Hon. Okotete and Mrs. Timiebi Guwor, wife of the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, aimed to promote women’s health and wellness in riverine communities.
Medical professionals, volunteers, and residents participated in the programme, which featured free breast cancer, diabetes, and blood pressure screenings, wellness lectures, and treatment referrals. Communities such as Okerenkoko, Azama, Benikrukru, Kokodiagbene, and others in Gbaramatu Kingdom were represented.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Stella Okotete said the initiative was designed to encourage early detection and preventive healthcare among women, especially those in rural and riverine areas. She noted that breast cancer continues to claim lives due to the inaccessibility and high cost of diagnosis and treatment.
Okotete explained that October, globally recognized as Pink Month, is dedicated to raising awareness and encouraging regular screenings. She disclosed that a team of 25 health workers, including doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and radiologists, conducted free medical checks and provided medications at the event.
She also announced ongoing discussions with Turkish doctors to establish a diagnostic center in Delta State by April 2026, which will improve access to cancer screening and treatment.
The outreach combined medical services with recreational activities, including raffle draws, games, and prizes. Participants received items such as cash gifts and blood pressure machines.
The Coordinator of E-Girls Right Foundation, Ambassador Endurance Bekenawei Nwachukwu, described the outreach as a practical and impactful initiative that brought healthcare closer to underserved communities.
As part of the programme, the E-Girls team paid a courtesy visit to the Pere of Gbaramatu Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe Agadagba, who offered prayers for the foundation’s success.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to promote women’s health and wellness across Delta State and the Niger Delta region.
