Over One Month After AAU SUG Election Postponement, Students Await Fresh Date Amid Calls for Credible Process
More than one month after the indefinite postponement of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) elections at Ambrose Alli University (AAU), students are still awaiting an official announcement of a new date, as concerns over student representation and electoral transparency continue to grow.
The elections, initially scheduled for Thursday, April 30, 2026, were postponed through an official statement released on April 29 by the university management, citing the need to ensure a free, fair, transparent, and credible electoral process.
While some students supported the decision, believing credibility should take priority, others have expressed concern over the prolonged silence surrounding a revised timetable.
The SUG remains an important platform for student representation, welfare advocacy, and engagement with university management. As anticipation rises across campus, students continue to hope for clarity on the electoral process and a credible election capable of producing responsible student leaders.
University management had earlier assured stakeholders that a new date would be announced in due course, while appealing for patience and cooperation.
