PRESS STATEMENT
“YOU CAN’T MOCK THE STRUGGLE AND EAT FROM IT” – WARNING TO YEMI OTUEDON & ITSEKIRI PEOPLE

The attention of concerned Niger Delta stakeholders has been drawn to the reckless utterances of Yemi Otuedon, who boldly mentioned the name of the Administrator of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme in his recent comments. This sudden interest of the Itsekiri people in the programme is both suspicious and insulting to the memory of the struggle.

It is fresh in the minds of Niger Deltans that the Itsekiri people openly mocked High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo), labelling him an “ex-militant” and discrediting the very movement that birthed the Amnesty Programme. Today, these same voices shamelessly seek to feed from the sweat, sacrifices, and painful endurance of those they ridiculed.

The Amnesty Programme was created to rehabilitate and reintegrate genuine agitators who risked their lives for justice in the Niger Delta—not to serve as a banquet for opportunists who neither fought nor sacrificed for its existence.

We therefore warn Yemi Otuedon and the Itsekiri people: Respect the struggle. Respect the blood shed. Stay away from what you never built.

The hypocrisy must stop.

Dear Olu of Itsekiri,

I hope this message finds you well. I would like to respectfully bring to your attention the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Niger Delta Presidential Amnesty Programme. This programme is specifically designed for ex-agitators, ex-militants, and students from the Niger Delta region, and it is crucial that we adhere to its guidelines.

While we welcome academic advancements and opportunities for individuals from the Itsekiri Kingdom, it is important to note that the programme does not accommodate palace-level intervention or lobbying. The focus remains on the beneficiaries directly involved in the amnesty programme.

We kindly ask for your understanding and cooperation in ensuring that the programme’s policies are upheld.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
OGONI FIRST SON

🚨 ATTENTION NIGER DELTA 🚨

The Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) is for ALL ex-militants and students of the Niger Delta — NOT for any king or palace.

There is no such thing as a “Sole Representative” of the Olu of Itsekiri (self-claim Olu of Warri) in the PAP.
No royal salary.
No palace contract.
No ethnic hijack.

The PAP’s only offices are Rehabilitation & Reintegration — for the people, not thrones.

Let the Olu of Itsekiri face his pipeline contract and stay clear of the Amnesty Programme.
The Niger Delta belongs to ALL of us! ✊🏽

“Your Majesty, the Presidential Amnesty Programme was created solely to rehabilitate ex-militants and empower Niger Delta students, not to serve any palace or traditional council. There is no provision for a ‘sole representative’ of the Olu’s palace in the Amnesty Office. Kindly focus on the vital pipeline surveillance contract already awarded to your company by the Federal Government, and allow the Amnesty Programme to remain true to its original mandate for peace, rehabilitation, and education in the region.”

PRESS RELEASE

Date: August 13, 2025
From: Izon Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC)
Title: PAP Belongs to the Entire Niger Delta — Not to Any Palace

ICHC Condemns Attempts to Politicize the Presidential Amnesty Programme

The Izon Cultural Heritage Centre (ICHC) has expressed deep concern over recent comments from the palace of the Olu of Itsekiri, conveyed through one Dr. Shola Mese, who claims to represent the Olu in the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).

ICHC says such “misguided and misleading” remarks distort the PAP’s purpose, scope, and beneficiaries.

“The PAP is not an arm of the Itsekiri Traditional Rulers Council, nor is it an appendage of the Olu’s palace. It is a Federal Government peace instrument for all documented beneficiaries across the Niger Delta — without ethnic or sectional bias,”
— Apostle Bodmas Kemepadei, ICHC President.

PAP’s Mandate is Clear

The PAP was designed to address the needs of 30,000 documented beneficiaries drawn from all Niger Delta ethnic groups.
It does not answer to any palace. Its operational focus is on empowerment, reintegration, and welfare, not on palace politics.

ICHC warns that attempts to influence PAP operations through traditional authority could fuel unnecessary ethnic tension, undermine peace, and destabilize the region’s fragile stability.

The Disarmament Phase is Over

ICHC emphasized that the disarmament phase of the PAP ended years ago. The current reintegration phase is strictly for already documented beneficiaries.

“This is not a platform to reopen old claims or alter established lists. If His Majesty wishes to become an ex-militant, he should approach the Delta State Government and seek pardon — not interfere with a federal programme,” Apostle Kemepadei added.

On Dr. Shola Mese’s Remarks

ICHC strongly condemns Dr. Mese’s claims that the PAP under Dr. Dennis Otuaro is skewed against the Itsekiri people.
These claims are described as false, inflammatory, and intended to stoke division.

The organisation further notes that Dr. Mese’s supposed appointment in 2024 as Sole Itsekiri Representative to the PAP is invalid.
There is no such position in the PAP’s structure.

Confidence in Dr. Dennis Otuaro’s Leadership

ICHC reaffirms its full confidence in Dr. Otuaro’s leadership, describing his tenure as “marked by diligence, inclusivity, and commitment to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.”

Final Word

The PAP is a Niger Delta–wide peace instrument — it belongs to all ethnic nationalities, not to the Itsekiri alone, and certainly not to any palace.
Its future depends on unity, not division.

To those speaking evil about TOMPOLO — if you truly care about Nigeria, show us what you’re doing to grow her economy. While you hide behind words, TOMPOLO is risking everything daily to protect our resources and build the nation. Even as you insult him, you still enjoy the peace and progress his efforts bring. Hypocrisy won’t build Nigeria — action will. If you’re not building, stop breaking.

Advice to Nigerian Youths:

Dear Nigerian Youths,

In this season of political awakening, many of you are rushing to cast your hopes behind a new political party, desperate for change — and rightly so. But let this truth echo deeply in your hearts:

Changing a political party is not the same as changing a nation.

True progress does not come from merely switching colors on a ballot paper. It comes from a change of values, a rise in collective vision, and a commitment to national responsibility — from the leaders and the people alike.

History has shown us: new parties can wear old habits like second skin. Corruption can find a new name. Oppression can speak a different language. And empty promises can still echo through new voices.

Be careful.

Don't let your desperation for change blind you to the wisdom of sustainable nation-building. What Nigeria needs is not just a new party — what Nigeria needs is new thinking, new integrity, and a united people who will hold any party accountable.

Don’t vote for parties — vote for principles. Don’t be moved by charisma — be guided by character. Don’t seek revolution without resolution.

Build movements of minds, not just mobs of emotion. Work together — youth from the north, south, east, and west — to forge ideas, drive accountability, and demand transformation from within.

Remember, it is not the party that saves a nation.
It is the people — awake, aware, and aligned in purpose.

Nigeria will rise — not because we changed parties, but because we changed ourselves.

Be wise. Be bold. Be builders.

– With truth and hope.
