TURMOIL ERUPTS IN RIVERS GOVERNMENT HOUSE AS AIDES OF SOLE ADMINISTRATOR IBAS REVOLT OVER UNPAID ENTITLEMENTS

Rivers State witnessed an unseemly spectacle today as turmoil broke out within Government House between Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), the Sole Administrator, and his aides.

In a striking turn of events, those who had previously been loyal and served him faithfully turned against him, outraged that he was attempting to vacate office without settling their allowances and entitlements. The air was filled with shouts as aides and even some members of his security detail openly lamented, accusing Ibas of trying to "depart quietly" with Rivers State's wealth while leaving them empty-handed.

Sources close to the matter within Government House revealed that the scene grew so tense that the Chief of Staff was compelled to make urgent appeals, imploring the angry aides to calm down with vague assurances that "something will be done."

For the people of Rivers, the turmoil transcends a mere dispute over unpaid allowances; it symbolizes Ibas' disastrous tenure. A leader entrusted with stewardship squandered both resources and trust, leaving bitterness in his wake. Now, as his exit looms, even those closest to him cannot conceal their disillusionment.

It serves as a poignant reminder that when leaders plunder recklessly, they not only betray a state but also destroy their own legacy. Posterity will not remember Ibok-Ete Ibas for honor but for the turmoil and disgrace he leaves behind.

VIDEO: Influencers Enioluwa, Tomike Cheer on Hilda Baci at World Record Attempt

Social media influencers and content creators Enioluwa Adeoluwa and Tomike Adeoye have arrived at the Eko Hotel and Suites on Friday to cheer on celebrity chef Hilda Baci as she attempts to cook the world's largest pot of Nigerian jollof rice.

Baci, who broke the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in 2023, is hosting the Gino Jollof Festival in Lagos in partnership with the culinary brand.

The historic event, scheduled for September 12, will feature a giant pot measuring six metres wide and six metres tall, into which 250 bags of rice will be cooked for tens of thousands of attendees.

Enioluwa, who also supported Baci during her 2023 cook-a-thon, shared a video and photos of himself with the chef on Instagram, praising her determination and resilience.

He wrote, “There’s truly nothing you set your mind to that you don’t achieve. You’re such a go-getter — an incredible friend, an amazing sister, and one of the best things to happen to my world. I’m so proud of you.

“Today, as you break yet another world record, because I know you will- just know I’m cheering you on with all my heart.

“Wishing you all the success in the world, my love. I’ll be rooting for you every step of the way, no matter the distance. I love you endlessly. Go, Hilda, go! Go, Hilda, go!”

In a separate Instagram post, co-founder and entrepreneur Tomike revealed she is anchoring the festival, describing Baci’s feat as “greatness happening in our generation.”

Tomike wrote, “Hosting duties for Gino Jollof Festival with Hilda Baci.

“Hildabaci is set to break records and we’re here to witness greatness happening in our generation! We’re rooting for you Hilda! You’ve done it before; you will do it again with God on your side! Amen.”

The festival, which organisers say has already attracted over 20,000 registrations, is free to attend.

Baci has also assured attendees that the meal would be “amazing and hygienic,” promising a record-breaking experience of Nigerian jollof on an unprecedented scale.

BREAKING: National Assembly Blocks Senator Natasha’s Resumption

The National Assembly has informed Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan that she cannot resume office, despite the expiration of her six-month suspension.

The Kogi Central senator had written to the National Assembly, notifying them of the completion of her suspension and expressing her desire to return to the Senate.

Although the National Assembly is still on recess, the Clerk to the National Assembly responded to her letter, stating that her suspension, which took effect on March 6, 2025, remains a pending issue in court.

According to the letter, as seen by AIT News, until the judicial process is completed and the Senate reviews the court’s pronouncement, no decision can be taken.

Part of the letter signed by the acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Yahaya Danzaria, reads: "The subject matter of your suspension is presently before the Court of Appeal. The matter therefore remains subjudice, and until the judicial process is completed, and the Senate formally reviews the suspension in light of the court’s pronouncement, no administrative action can be taken by this office to facilitate your resumption. You will be duly notified of the Senate’s decision on the matter as soon as it is resolved."

Senator Natasha had previously attempted to resume on July 12, following the Federal High Court’s judgment asking the Senate to review her suspension. However, she was denied access to the National Assembly.

The Senator and the National Assembly had appealed portions of the judgment, which is currently pending before the Court of Appeal.

I believe respect isn’t about material possessions. I’ve never posted my cars, houses, or luxury items online because true respect comes from one’s character, not wealth. These days, people respect others for their possessions. That’s not the kind of society I want to live in. Everyone deserves respect. Flashing a Lamborghini or a mansion to fans who are struggling doesn’t inspire, it pressures them. I prefer to encourage people and share opportunities to help them grow.

IBOM AIR SAGA ✈️

On August 10, 2025, I boarded a flight from Uyo to Lagos. The hostess, Juliana, told us to switch off our phones. I was trying to put one of my phones on flight mode. She came to me and insisted I switch it off. I was holding two phones and explained that the second one was faulty. A man, who was sitted next to me, helped me switch off one of the phones while I struggled with the faulty one. I asked her to assist me, but she refused, so I begged the man again, and he helped.

As Juliana was leaving, she said, 'YOU WILL SEE.' I didn’t think much of it. When we landed in Lagos, I had to use the toilet on the plane. Afterward, I quickly packed my luggage and was about to disembark when Juliana suddenly blocked my way for no reason. I asked her to let me pass, but she ignored me. So I started recording with my phone. After a while, I stopped recording, and she saw I had filmed her. She then pushed me back inside the plane, dragged my frontal, tore my clothes and jewelry, and broke my phones.

The pain from her pulling my frontal made me angry, and I poked my fingers at her face, asking her "WHY DID YOU DO THAT?" She began calling me a pr******te. Those guys (Other airport staff) came, surrounded me, and started dragging me out of the plane. In the process, she pulled off my pinned clothes, and it wounded me inside. I was just trying to cover myself because my body was out there. They were videoing. Was even looking for how to cover myself, and some of them were trying to touch me...

I never expected that kind of treatment. They uploaded the video to social media. The trauma is too much on me. As I am now, I cannot go out because everyone has seen my body. I am ashamed. They have used my videos to make WhatsApp stickers. I am into real estate, I don’t know how to talk to customers knowing my body is out there. How will I face them? My unborn kids will see this. How will I get married? My reputation, Oh No! The reason I haven't come out to tell my side of the story is because I am still on treatment.
