At a meeting with stakeholders held in Abuja Tuesday, the Nigerian Communications Commission demonstrated that it's avowed devotion to the Nigerian consumer is not a flash in the pan when it reeled out 10 tips to help consumers manage their data thereby cutting costs.

This follows the hues and cries of millions of Nigerians which caught the attention of the Commission about perceived outrageous depletion of data.

According to the Executive Vice Chairman of the Commission, Engr. Aminu Maida, the issue was reported to reputable chartered accounting firms such as PWC and upon carrying out their billings audit they found that there is little or no problem with the data depletion rate.

The Nigerian Correctional Service has announced that a jailbreak occurred in the early hours of Tuesday 12th August, 2025 at the Medium Security Custodial Centre, Keffi (New), Nasarawa State.

According to the press statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the Service, Deputy Controller Umar Abubakar, "Some inmates breached the security of the facility, and attacked personnel on duty to compromise the situation enabling sixteen (16) inmates to escape custody. In the course of containing the situation, five (5) personnel of the Custodial Centre sustained varying degrees of injury, with two currently serious and receiving urgent medical attention at a government health facility. Seven (7) of the fleeing inmates have been recaptured and are now in custody.

"The Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, MFR, mni, has visited the facility and has ordered a thorough investigation into the escape. He said no staff will be spared if found culpable.

The Federal Project Management Unit (FPMU) of the Nigeria Climate Adaptation – Erosion and Watershed Project (NEWMAP-EIB) convened a strategic meeting on Monday, 11/8/2025 in Abuja with 23 State Project Coordinators to finalize state-level readiness and work plans ahead of fund disbursement.

Delivering the opening remarks, the National Project Coordinator, Engr. Ayuba Anda Yalaks, stated that the purpose of the meeting was to harmonize state readiness, finalize draft work plans, and address all outstanding concerns prior to the release of funds.

Providing an update on the status of the project, the National Project Coordinator, NEWMAP-EIB, Engr. Anda Ayuba Yalaks announced that the NEWMAP-EIB project has been declared technically and disbursement effective. He also confirmed that the project has received the first tranche of funding from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
