Nasarawa Set for Nursing Education Revolution as College Gets Green Light for HND Programmes

In a major boost for Nigeria's healthcare sector and a significant political win for the Sule administration, the Nasarawa State College of Nursing Sciences is poised to begin offering Higher National Diploma (HND) programmes as early as November this year, following what officials are calling an "aggressive" and "unprecedented" state government intervention.

The landmark accreditation, revealed exclusively to journalists after a pivotal Governing Council meeting, promises to transform the Lafia-based institution into a premier destination for nursing education in North-Central Nigeria, easing the critical shortage of highly qualified nursing professionals.

Chairman of the College’s Governing Council, Mohammed Omas, addressing press in the college boardroom, did not mince words, placing credit squarely on the doorstep of Governor Abdullahi Sule. He hailed the Governor’s "unwavering commitment" and "various interventions," which have rapidly equipped the college with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure needed to meet the rigorous standards of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria.

"The gap that existed before our constitution has been decisively bridged," Omas declared, his statement carrying the weight of a promise fulfilled. "Through the magnanimity of Governor Sule, we have carried out an aggressive implementation. We are not just ready; we are poised for excellence."

The move is seen as a strategic masterstroke by political analysts, aligning Governor Sule’s agenda with tangible, high-impact development in a crucial sector like healthcare. It directly addresses national concerns over brain drain and the quality of medical training, positioning Nasarawa as a leader in educational reform.

Omas also revealed that the newly constituted Governing Council, a mix of seasoned academics and professionals, is forging a powerful partnership with the college management. This alliance, he assured, is already strengthening the institution's academic and professional standing.

But amidst the optimism, the Chairman issued a stern warning to those who might see the upgraded institution as an easy pass. In a clear message to parents and potential students, he affirmed the council's iron-clad resolve to maintain the highest standards.

"We have all resolved to justify the confidence reposed in us," Omas stated firmly. "We will continue to engage with parents, teachers, and students to ensure that our college does not turn into a dumping ground for failures. Any attempt to compromise our standards will be resisted."

With the November deadline now set, all eyes are on Lafia. The successful launch of the HND programmes will not only mark a new chapter for the college but will also stand as a defining testament to an administration betting big on education and health as the bedrock of the state's future.

Nasarawa State Government and University Unite to Fortify Public Information and Forge the Next Generation of Media Titans.

By Nata'ala Keffi

In a strategic move set to reshape the media landscape and public communication in Nasarawa State, the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism has officially joined forces with the academic powerhouse training the nation's journalists. This new alliance promises a future where timely, accurate information flows seamlessly from government to citizens, powered by a generation of media professionals trained with cutting-edge, practical experience.

The historic partnership was cemented on Wednesday 10th September 2025 when the Dean of the Faculty of Communication and Media Studies at Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Muhammad Sani Rabiu, led a high-powered delegation of veteran journalists and academic dons on a courtesy visit to the State Commissioner, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, in his Lafia office.

Hailing the visitors as the "architects of modern Nigerian journalism," Commissioner Tanko expressed profound honour at receiving the faculty, which he credited with producing the vast majority of the country's present-day media professionals.

"The bridge between theory and practice is essential for a thriving democracy," stated Dr. Tanko, his voice echoing the gravity of the moment. "This Ministry is ever ready to collaborate with your esteemed Faculty in our core mission: to inform, educate, and entertain the public on the transformative policies and programmes of the present administration under His Excellency, Governor Abdullahi Sule. An informed citizenry is an empowered citizenry."

The Commissioner didn't just offer rhetoric; he delivered concrete commitments. Addressing a key constraint faced by the faculty, Dr. Tanko pledged direct support for the Faculty's student-run newspaper.

"I understand the funding challenges of producing a quality publication that serves as a practical training ground for our future journalists," he assured. "I will do my very best to ensure we subsidize the production process. This investment is an investment in the future of truth and accountability in Nasarawa and beyond."

Earlier in the meeting, Dean Professor Rabiu had laid out a visionary three-point collaborative plan, framing the visit as more than a courtesy call, but a "strategic mission to build a lasting partnership."

The key areas of collaboration include:

1. Specialized Training for Working Journalists: Leveraging the university's academic expertise to enhance the skills of reporters covering the state.

2. Capacity-Building Workshops: Designing workshops for Public Relations Officers (PROs) and Information Officers across all 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) to improve grassroots information dissemination.

3. Sustaining the Faculty Newspaper: Ensuring the regular publication of the student newspaper, a critical hands-on learning tool, through production support.

"We successfully published our first edition last year, and the second is ready to go to press," revealed Prof. Rabiu. "This publication is the lifeblood of practical learning for our students. With the Ministry's support, we can overcome our primary constraint and ensure this vital voice is not silenced."

This partnership is a masterclass in synergistic governance. For the citizenry, it translates to clearer, more accurate, and faster information on government activities, from infrastructure projects to social programs. For students at NSUK, it provides an unprecedented direct line to the real world of government communication, offering invaluable experience and mentorship. For the state government, it builds a robust mechanism for conveying its achievements and plans, fostering greater public trust and engagement.

This isn’t just a meeting; it’s the signing of a new social contract between the government, the academy, and the people of Nasarawa State. It is a contract where information is not a privilege, but a right, and where the next generation of journalists is being forged in the fires of practice and principle.

The Architects of Progress vs. The Voices of Envy: Standing with Hon. Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim.

By Nata'ala Keffi

History is rarely kind to those who dare to reshape the status quo. For decades, even centuries, the Nigerian woman has been the nation’s unwavering constant—the trader in the market, the farmer in the field, the pillar of the home. Yet, in the halls of power, her voice was a ghost. The post-independence political landscape, for all its promise, largely consigned women to the role of cheerleaders and voters, not leaders and decision-makers.

We remember the pioneering spirit of figures like Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, who fought tirelessly for representation. Yet, progress was glacial. Women faced a triad of oppression: social discrimination that told them their place was not in public life, economic exploitation that limited their access to loans and land, and political marginalization that shut them out of elected offices and appointments.

This is the historical backdrop that makes the transformative leadership of Hon. Imaan Suleiman Ibrahim at the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs not just commendable, but revolutionary. And it begs a painful question: why is it that in our culture, we often not standing by our own in their time of need, to support them as they succeed?

Under the banner of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, Hon. Imaan has not simply occupied an office; she has ignited a movement. Her tenure has been a masterclass in dismantling the old barriers. Today, the evidence is undeniable: women are competing with and excelling alongside men in boardrooms, in tech hubs, and crucially, in leadership positions.

The Proof is in the Pudding: Nasarawa’s Democratic Revolution. Consider the tangible, historical shift in Nasarawa State. For the first time ever, each of the state’s 13 Local Government Areas now has a dedicated councilor representing women in the legislative arm. This is not a token gesture; it is a structural overhaul. It ensures that the issues of healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and security that uniquely affect women are no longer an afterthought but a central part of local governance. This is a replicable model for the entire federation, a legacy of inclusive democracy that will outlive any single administration.

Beyond this, a simple search online reveals a cascade of empowerment programs, from vocational training initiatives and financial literacy workshops to grants for female entrepreneurs that have swept across the nation, touching lives from Calabar to Kebbi. The evidence is there, documented and verifiable for all who care to look.

Then Why The Noise?

This leads to the inevitable dissonance: the protests, the whispered campaigns, the open hostility against her leadership. When confronted with such undeniable progress, one must ask: what is the true source of this criticism?

Is it based on a lack of results? The facts say otherwise. Is it based on a better policy alternative?None has been offered.

The unfortunate truth points to a older, more corrosive tradition: the politics of envy, jealousy, and greed. It is the age-old Nigerian reflex to pull down the rising star, to critique the breaker of chains, to sow discord where progress is being harvested. It is the last gasp of a fading establishment that feels its exclusive grip on power slipping away.

To stand against Hon. Imaan Ibrahim’s vision is not to stand for accountability; it is to stand against the advancement of over half of our population. It is to side with the marginalizers of the past against the architects of a more prosperous, inclusive future.

The journey is far from complete, but the direction is clear. It is a path paved with the renewed hope of millions of Nigerian women who now see a reflection of themselves in government. We must make a choice: will we be remembered as those who stood with progress, or those who were swayed by the petty politics of envy?

The time to stand by our own is now. The time to support positive success is now. The evidence is clear; the future is female, and it is brighter for us all.

BREAKING: The Eagle Has Landed! Political Tsunami Hits Nasarawa as Senatorial Giant, Wadada, Officially Joins APC

By Nata'ala Keffi

In a move that political pundits are calling a "masterstroke" and a "game-changer," the political landscape of Nasarawa State was dramatically reshaped on Sunday September 7th 2025, as the distinguished Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada formally defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The historic event, dubbed "The Landing of the Eagle" by jubilant party faithful, was not a quiet affair but a grand declaration of intent, witnessed by a who's who of Nasarawa's political elite.

The ceremony, held in Senator Wadada's home ward of Tudun Kofa in Keffi Local Government, was transformed into a carnival of democracy. The air crackled with anticipation as the crowd erupted in cheers, witnessing the moment the influential senator received his APC membership card, signaling a seismic shift in the state's political alignment.

The significance of the moment was underscored by the presence of high-ranking government officials. The Honourable Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, stood as an official witness, representing the state government's full endorsement and embrace of the new decampee. His presence sent a clear message: Senator Wadada is not just joining; he is being welcomed into the very heart of the party's machinery.

The gathering was a powerful testament to Wadada's political weight. The event was packed to the rafters with a convergence of party stalwarts from across the state and local government levels. Keffi Local Government Chairman, key stakeholders, and a sea of well-wishers and supporters all stood united, their presence a loud and clear signal of a consolidated political front.

"For us, this is more than a defection; it is a homecoming," declared Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, addressing the energized crowd. "The Eagle is a symbol of strength, vision, and dominance. Today, that Eagle has landed in its rightful nest. Senator Wadada's decision is a testament to the progressive ideals and inclusive leadership of our great party, the APC. This is a new dawn for Nasarawa State."

For Senator Wadada, a renowned figure known for his grassroots connection and formidable political structure, this move is seen as a strategic consolidation of power ahead of future elections. Analysts suggest his entry into the APC instantly bolsters the party's chances in the zone and sends a wave of uncertainty through the opposition camps.

"The people have spoken, and their message is one of unity and progress," Senator Wadada stated, holding his new membership card aloft. "I am answering the call of my people to join hands with the moving train of development. Together, we will soar higher and deliver tangible dividends of democracy to every door in Nasarawa State."

The defection of a political heavyweight of Wadada's caliber is more than just a headline; it is a political earthquake. It consolidates the APC's grip on the state and fundamentally alters the calculus for any opposition hoping to make inroads. The Eagle has not just landed; it has reshaped the entire political terrain.

The Uncomfortable Truth About Who Stays When You Fall

Nata'ala Keffi

You Think Your Circle Is Tight? Just wait.

Wait until your wallet is empty. Wait until you fail spectacularly. Wait until your success no longer serves them. That’s when the smoke clears, and you see who was real and who was just killing time.

Let's be real: this world is transactional. People show up as long as you serve a purpose. The moment you stop being useful, they vanish. Don't take it personally, it’s not about you. It’s the cold, hard mechanics of the world. Learn it now, or life will teach you later. The hard way.

When you’re at your lowest? Silence. When you’re confused?Laughter. When your dream fails? They leave. But when you rise?Suddenly, everyone remembers your name. That isn’t friendship but convenience.

So here’s your new strategy: Be smart, not open. Stop handing your heart to everyone. Stop announcing your pla hins to an audience of spectators and competitors. Stop expecting a cheering squad while you’re building your empire in the dark.

Your most important lesson is to become your own best friend. Learn to clap for yourself in silence. Because the day you stop relying on others is the day you truly start becoming the person you were meant to be.

Work hard. Move in silence. Let your success answer all their questions.

Remember: It is infinitely better to walk alone than to be followed by a crowd that only shows up for the victory parade.

Here’s the harsh truth everyone avoids: people are primarily concerned with their own survival, success, and validation. In that pursuit, your struggles often become background noise. It’s not betrayal; it’s human nature. They’re not all bad, they’re just busy managing their own chaos.

Understanding this isn’t a cue to become cynical. It’s a call to become wise.

Therefore, stop expecting people to carry your weight. Instead, build the strength to carry yourself. Stop waiting for a savior. No one is coming. Stop hoping for a push.Become your own engine.

Learning to stand alone isn’t a weakness, it’s your ultimate power. It means your happiness isn’t in someone else’s hands. Your growth isn’t tied to their approval. You are emotionally unshakeable.

When you stand alone, you stop begging for support. You stop explaining your dreams to those who only listen to compete. You become your own motivator, your own coach, your own foundation.

This independence is your greatest shield. People can’t manipulate you if you don’t need them. They can’t control you if you’re not tied to their presence. And this gives you the freedom to think clearly, move strategically, and execute without permission.

The world doesn’t respect potential. It respects results. It doesn’t celebrate effort. It celebrates outcomes.

If you’re expecting empathy to fuel your journey, you will be disappointed. Most people won’t understand your path, and they don’t need to.

The world only ever claps when you win. Not when you are struggling. Not when you are dangling. And not when you’re trying.

So build anyway. Struggle anyway. Rise anyway.

Let your success be your only noise.
