The Flying Eagles of Nigeria soared to a thrilling 2-1 victory over the Young Pharaohs of Egypt in a pre-AFCON U20 tournament friendly at the Cairo International Stadium.

The match, a tense and exciting affair, saw both sides showcase their talent and determination in preparation for the upcoming continental competition.

Nigeria's dominance was evident early on, with Kparobo Arierhi breaking the deadlock in the 10th minute, capitalizing on a precise pass from Bidemi Amole.

However, the Young Pharaohs, playing on home soil, refused to be outdone. They clawed their way back into the game in the 65th minute when Ahmed Kaabaka found the back of the net, igniting the home crowd.

The match shifted gears, with both sides desperate for victory. Nigeria's resilience and tactical flexibility ultimately proved decisive.

In the 83rd minute, Precious Benjamin stepped up to convert a penalty, securing the win for the Flying Eagles.

The Flying Eagles will now face Tunisia on Thursday in their opening group match of the AFCON U20 tournament, followed by encounters against Morocco and Kenya in Group B.

With this impressive victory under their belts, the Flying Eagles will be aiming to soar to new heights in the tournament, aiming for a coveted continental title.

Nigeria's U-20 AFCON campaign begins with a faceoff against Tunisia in Cairo on May 1, followed by showdowns with Morocco on May 4 and Kenya on May 7.

The Seven-time Champions will play their first game against Tunisia at the June 30 Stadium, in Cairo, 🇪🇬
