Chief Victor Ikiere Breaks Silence
I, CHIEF VICTOR IKIERE FINALLY BREAKS SILENCE TO DEIWEI JUBRIL MARCH, DAVID SALICO AND MICHEAL TARE ENAIGBAGHA
“PLEASE, ALLOW THE SLEEPING LION IN PEACE’ SAYS CHIEF VICTOR IKIERE”
Due to the allegation placed against Chief Victor Ikiere, Victor Elkanah and Chief Benson Dodoru;
I, Chief Victor Ikiere is innocent.
I was not at home that day, I was at Olokpobiri in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State that very day the incident occurred and I know nothing about it.
“But since you have woken me up from slumber, I will not hesitate to use this medium to tell the history of Ogbotubo land”.
The history tells that Kalaibein and Opuibein were two brothers that hailed from Azagbene Community but relocated to Letugbene and visited one Late High Chief Noma whom hosted the two brothers and gave them land for their farming and fishing functions between Letugbene and Agoro Federated Communities. That period, Letugbene community refused and turned down the two brothers (Kalaibein and Opuibein) from settling in the land but Late High Chief Noma advocated and pleaded that the community consents to the settlement of Kalaibein and Opuibein in the Land of Letugbene in Iduwini Clan because they were paying land rent to him on monthly basis.
In summary, the people of Letugbene granted the demand of the two brothers (Kalaibein and Opuibein) due to plead of Late High Chief Noma because they were his tenants.
On a clear note, Iduwini’s Clan Land extends to sharing common boundaries with Ogbe-Ijaw in Warri South-West Local Government Area of Delta State. Therefore, ‘the said land’ which Ogbotubo is settled till date is a property of Iduwini clan but because we are mixed in marriage and neighbours, Iduwini consented to the habitation of Ogbotubo on our land.
Today, let me make the records straight for those ignorant of this history to note that when ever the need calls for Iduwini to make claim and take possession of their land, Iduwini would do so.
