Fr. Mbaka Begs Obi, Supporters On "Stingy" Outburst, Says He Wishes Obi Well...............................................

In an apology letter on Friday titled, “Rev Fr Ejike Mbaka Blesses His Excellency Peter Obi and His Supporters,” Mbaka pleaded for the understanding and forgiveness of Obi and his supporters, praying that God would grant the heart desires of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

In the letter he personally signed, Mbaka said,
“I am a servant of God and my intention is not to malign His Excellency, Peter Obi’s image, but to pray for him. May God’s will be done in his life.

“I pray to God, whom I serve, to give our beloved people good and excellent leaders who will take care of them and lead them to the Promised Land. Anyone who God wishes to make our leader is my choice.

“In this vein, I give my blessings to His Excellency Peter Obi and his supporters; I also give my blessings to the other candidates and their supporters whose intention is also to give Nigeria good leaders.

“In any way, the supporters of Mr Peter Obi feel offended by my utterances or however I was misunderstood by them, I ask for their understanding and forgiveness. As a servant of the Most High God, I pray that it shall be well with my people. I am an ardent supporter of good governance, justice, equity, love, and godliness.”

Describing Obi as his friend, Mbaka said his intention was not to fight or malign Obi.

“He is my friend and remains my friend and brother. I love him and I wish him success. May God bless him and his good supporters. God’s will be done in his political endeavors.

“The followers of Peter Obi are the same youths I am praying for, sacrificing for, fighting for, speaking for, and working for their integral well-being. What the youths are passing through and their conditions give me sleepless nights. It is for this reason that I yearn for good governance and worthy leaders that will take care of them. We are passing through indescribable, unbearable, and undeserved hardship in this country. I pray for divine intervention.

“I am not in any political party but I support good people and good governance. Any good person that God can give us is my choice candidate. I am a servant of God. For the sake of peace, I ask for forgiveness in any way I am misunderstood.

“And to Peter Obi himself, I ask God to bless him and manifest his will in his life. When God says yes, who can say no? And when God says no, who can say yes? I bless Peter Obi and pray for him. I bless my dear fellow Adores and pray for them. I bless the people of God everywhere and I pray that it shall be well with you all.”...........................................

Why Wike Will Not Be Disappointed By My Emergence As Atiku's Running Mate --Okowa...............................................

“I want to assure you that Wike is a very good man and his interest for this country and party to be able to rise up to the challenge at the moment is strong,” Mr Okowa said shortly after his unveiling at the PDP headquarters in Abuja. “I do not feel he is going to be disappointed.”

He described Mr Wike as a “very strong party man” who he believes is “also a good democrat and he understands that when several persons are in the race for a particular position, only one person will be at the front in time.”

On the chances of his party in the 2023 elections, the Delta governor says,

“There is a huge challenge in our nation and PDP has said that it wanted to rescue this country and rebuild it.”

“To be able to do that, you need a man who has the right experience and obviously I have been picked today as vice-presidential candidate of the PDP to rescue Nigeria and to rebuild it.

“I am truly very excited that I have been asked to join that ticket to be able to work with him (Atiku) as his vice-presidential candidate,” Okowa said............................................

Why Tinubu Should Consider Dogara As Running Mate .............................................

APC stalwart Ukkasha Rahama has urged Bola Tinubu to consider former speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

Mr Rahama is the national chairman Youth Progressives Forum of APC. He said Messrs Tinubu and Dogara would make a perfect team for the 2023 poll.

“The APC has people that can be paired with Tinubu, which can add value to the presidential ticket, and the foremost so far is Dogara."

“The emergence of Asiwaju as our party candidate has opened another political discussion, and to strike a balance, Tinubu and the leadership of the party should consider the choice of Dogara as the vice president,” Mr Rahama said.

“This is to calm the nerves and draw the attention of our great party to ensure justice, fairness and equity to guide their selection of the vice-presidential candidate.”

"Mr Dogara as a good material for Tinubu is not ceded along with his tribe nor his religion,” but his political experience.

“Though religion has forced itself into the affairs of governance in Nigeria instead of credibility, competency and delivery hence the urgent need to take it out of the business of the government,” added the APC stalwart.

Mr Rahama also said the choice of Mr Dogara as the vice-presidential candidate would show APC as a sensitive party.

Why Atiku May Choose Okowa Ahead of Wike, Udom; May Pick From the South-West...............................................

Why Atiku May Choose Okowa Ahead of Wike, Udom; May Pick From the South-West.............................................

Ahead of Friday’s deadline for political parties to submit the names of their presidential candidates and running mates to the Independent National Electoral Commission, most of the political parties are making hurried moves to beat the deadline.

There are strong indications that the Governor of Delta State, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, is favoured to emerge as Atiku’s running mate as the candidate is said to be favourably disposed to the choice of Okowa, a medical doctor serving his second term as the governor of the oil-bearing state.

Other persons being considered and who are interested in the slot are governors Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State and Nyesom Wike of Rivers State. Wike was the first runner-up during the party’s presidential primary held on May 29, 2022.

A top source in the party, who is also close to the candidate, said, “Atiku will consult very well. He has met with the governors on the platform of the party; he has met with members of the national caucus, the PDP Governors’ Forum, members of the National Executive Committee, and even former presidents and heads of state.

“The leadership of the party asked him to bring three names that he thinks he could work with and he did, which are the names people have been mentioning everywhere; Wike, Okowa and Udom Emmanuel. But I think he prefers Okowa. He (Okowa) is believed to have the support of the majority of the governors, including those from the South-East and South-South, where he hails from.

“The preference for him is also strategic. Following the need to carry along the South-East people, Okowa is Igbo from the Igbo part of Delta State. He is calm, a medical doctor and does not insult or fight people, including his colleagues. Even during campaigns, he’s not the type to speak ill of fellow aspirants or candidates.

“Therefore, it’s not likely that there will be any major opposition to his choice. Like I said, he is Igbo and he will create that needed balance between the South-South and the South-East. The Igbo will support him and people in the South-South will also support him.”

There are also insinuations that some PDP governors were against the choice of Wike as Atiku’s running mate.

On why Wike, who was a major contender for the presidential ticket, was not considered, the source, who was privy to some of the meetings held over the issue, told THIS IS TV “Some governors frustrated the move to make him the running mate. They feel he is too powerful. But in all honesty, you need someone like Wike to win the election.

“He can fight dirty and can pull the crowd. But some of the governors, who form a powerful and influential bloc in the party, feel otherwise and you cannot dismiss their views.”

The source said a new twist to the search was the view of some stakeholders that the running mate should come from the South-West.

He added, “As it is now, it is very likely for Tinubu to pick his running mate from North-West. We must not forget that the majority of the votes are from the North-West and South-West. That is where the bloc votes are.

“What some stakeholders are saying is that if he does, it will be dangerous for the PDP to totally ignore the South-West, because North-West, which has the highest votes, may give Tinubu that advantage.

“Now, people are saying if a Christian from the South-West is Atiku’s running mate, it will affect Tinubu’s votes in the region, because running with a Muslim/Muslim ticket will spark outrage from Pentecostal Christians and that will affect his votes among even the northern Christians. It will also affect him in the South-South. That is the argument. So, the PDP cannot also ignore the South-West.”

President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he lives daily with grief over the victims of terror and kidnapping in Nigeria.

He made this revelation during his Democracy Day speech on Sunday.

He said, “I’m living daily with grief and thoughts for all the victims and prisoners of terrorism and kidnapping.

“I and the security agencies are doing all we can to free those unfortunate countrymen and country women safely. For those who have lost their lives, we will continue to seek justice for their families against the perpetrators.

Why Tinubu May Settle For Muslim-Muslim Ticket ..................................................

Ahead of Friday’s deadline for political parties to submit the names of their presidential candidates and running mates to the Independent National Electoral Commission, most of the political parties are making hurried moves to beat the deadline.

The commission had said it would not extend the deadline for the submission of the names of the candidates and their running mates.

In the ruling All Progressives Congress, it was also learnt that the party and its candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, might settle for a Muslim-Muslim ticket, given the party’s difficulty in finding a Christian from the North, who would boost the party’s chances in the election.

A top source in the party told THIS IS TV on Saturday that even though consultation was still ongoing, the idea of picking either Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State or the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who are both northern Christians, was no longer topical due to their limited clout in the region.

The source noted that North-West and North-East had the bloc votes in the region and that if the party could not find a stronger Christian from the two sub-regions, it might settle for a Muslim.............................................
