EDTF, TTRCB & Partners Kicks Off 5-Day Training!

The Bayelsa State Education Development Trust Fund (EDTF), in partnership with the State Teacher Training Registration and Certification Board (TTRCB) and the British Council has officially kicked off the routine training of public primary and secondary school teachers.

The five-day intensive training on English Proficiency, Digital Literacy and Instructional leadership is expected to upscale the skills of beneficiaries towards achieving improved outcomes in the educational system.

RIVERS STATE: SAFE AND PEACEFUL, SAYS GOVERNOR FUBARA

Governor Addresses Misinformation and Reaffirms Safety

Rivers State Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara has condemned a campaign of misinformation aimed at portraying the state as unsafe. At the closing event of the Python Golf Club's 6th Edition Chief Ikenna Okafor 2025 Pro-Amateur Golf Championship in Port Harcourt, he emphasized that Rivers is peaceful and open for business and tourism.

Fubara stated that the significant turnout of visitors from across Africa counters negative media narratives, which he described as exaggerated and politically motivated. “More than half of what you read in the media isn't true,” he asserted, noting that other states face worse issues without the same negative press.

While acknowledging previous political tensions, he highlighted the return of peace and effective security operations. He praised the joint security team's efforts, stating that guests enjoyed a safe tournament experience.

The Governor expressed gratitude to participants, urging them to share their positive experiences to help reshape the state's image. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to events that attract national and international interest and announced plans to revive the Governor’s Cup tournament.

“Our mission is simple: to change our story and protect our state,” Governor Fubara concluded. Major General Emmanuel Eric Emekah, General Officer Commanding the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, added that the peaceful environment facilitated the tournament's success.

PDP NEW NATIONAL CHAIRMAN

The delegates of the Elective National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have elected a new leadership for the party, led by Kabiru Tanimu Taruraki as the National Chairman. I was also elected as the National Publicity Secretary, entrusting me with the responsibility of serving as the party’s Chief Image Maker and Public Defender.

I accept this assignment with a deep sense of responsibility, trusting that He who has been my help in ages past will remain my source and strength as I undertake this national duty for our party at a time like this.

As an opposition party, I am fully aware of the many challenges (both internal and external) that stare us in the face. Yet, I believe, as my campaign theme stated, that this is our moment of rebirth- a time to build anew from the old, to rekindle the flame, and to present to Nigerians an opposition party they can genuinely trust.

I am confident that the new National Executive Committee, under the able chairmanship of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN- an experienced leader, a reputable lawyer, and a principled politician, will deliver a PDP that draws from its past successes and failures to rebuild a resilient political machinery. One capable of offering effective opposition to the ruling party and becoming a true home for principled politicians across the country.

We seek the support of Nigerians in the collective task of ensuring democratic consolidation and deepening true democratization in our nation.
