13 years of awards, 30 years of Bayelsa, 16 years of NCDMB. The Bayelsa Media Awards is back with its biggest edition yet.

The Bayelsa Media Awards, BMA, has unveiled its 13th edition, tagged the ‘13:30 Edition’, scheduled for 2026 in Yenagoa. This year’s event coincides with Bayelsa State’s 30th Anniversary since creation in 1996, and the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board’s 16th Anniversary. They return as Lead Sponsors.

According to the Project Manager Victor Binawari, ‘This is more than an awards event. It is a celebration of 30 years of Bayelsa, 16 years of NCDMB’s impact on Nigerian Content, and 13 years of BMA spotlighting excellence.’ He also announced that DACHAJ Nigeria Limited is joining Sqilful Konseptz to co-package the event.

For media professionals across Bayelsa and the Niger Delta region, it means more visibility, competition, and opportunities to be recognized by State governments, Corporate entities and top brands like NCDMB which has opened the Oil and Gas categories to the region. The theme ‘13:30 Edition’ reflects BMA’s 13-year journey alongside Bayelsa’s 30-year growth.

Nominations, categories, date, and venue will be announced soon. For details, contact the Bayelsa Media Awards website www.bma.org.ng or follow official BMA channels.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the Government and People of Bayelsa State, the Ewhrudjakpo family, and the immediate family of the late Deputy Governor, His Excellency Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo PhD.

The news of his demise came to us as a rude shock, one that we are still in denial owing to the fact of how vibrant and agile he was when he graced the BMA with his presence in October 2025.

Senator Ewhrudjakpo was an exceptional leader, astute administrator, firm politician, and a devout Christian with a kind heart. His contributions to Bayelsa State's development are indelible and will be deeply missed.

As the recipient of our Exceptional Excellence Award for 2025, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo exemplified outstanding leadership. We are grateful he accepted our recognition and out of his tight schedule, attended the awards ceremony, adding value with his speech laced with intelligence , parables and humour.

Our hearts are broken but we are consoled in the fact that he lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the Governor, His Excellency Senator Douye Diri, the Ewhrudjakpo family, his immediate family, and the good people of Bayelsa State during this difficult time. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Signed,
Victor Binawari
