BENEFITS OF THE SAGBAMA-EKEREMOR ROAD PROJECT TO THE PEOPLE

The benefits the people of Bayelsa State stand to derive from the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road project, otherwise known as the Bayelsa West Senatorial Road, are quite numerous because of its economic value to the entire state.

To start with, the road is strategic to the functionality and success of the Agge Deep Seaport which is underway, for the evacuation of imported goods to the hinterland and haulage of locally produced goods for export through the seaport.

Another benefit derivable from the road project is that it would solve the perennial problems of transportation among people living in the communities situated in the area. Obviously, the many hours spent on the waterways to access communities will now be saved because road transport is faster than water transport is.

In the same vein, the Sagbama-Ekeremor Road project will reduce the cost of transportation of people and goods. This point is self-evident because water transport is much costlier than travelling by road.

Additionally, the road will open up more communities for better and more lucrative business opportunities in the sister LGAs of Sagbama and Ekeremor. It will also engender a more conducive business environment with the prospect of the communities getting connected to National Grid, such as Ofoni, Angalabiri and Toru-Orua which have already benefited in this regard.

Road development is one of the key pillars on which the Restoration Agenda of the Dickson Administration stands and it's indeed not surprising that the vision bearer, Governor Dickson, is so passionate about this road project.
