Students of Bayelsa West, under the aegis of the Ofurumapepe Students’ Wing, have declared their support for Senator Henry Seriake Dickson over his advocacy for creating special seats for women in the Nigerian Senate.

They noted that women play a vital role in society, adding that the Senator’s local government is presently chaired by a woman who is performing credibly well, hence the need for Nigerians to support the bill.

The Director General of the Ofurumapepe Students’ Wing, Comrade Atti Joshua Moses, appreciated Senator Dickson for his people-oriented contributions in the Senate and his verifiable efforts in Bayelsa West.

BAYELSA FLOODS
EBIS ROAD RESIDENTS Urge STATE GOVT INTERVENTION To Address Challenges

INTRO:
Residents of Ebis Road in Biogbolo, Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, are appealing to the state government to urgently address persistent flooding in their area.

They say that even light rainfall is enough to submerge their homes and roads, leaving them stranded and uncomfortable. Some residents revealed that, at times, they have to pay local canoe operators to access their houses even when it hasn’t rained.

They are, therefore, calling on the government to clear natural canals and open up blocked drainages to ease their suffering.

For residents of Ebis Road, flash floods have become a recurring nightmare—disrupting their lives, damaging property, and exposing them to serious health risks.

They complain of constant mosquito bites, malaria, diarrhea, and other waterborne diseases caused by stagnant floodwater.

Adding his voice, a resident and former Chairman of the Environmental Sanitation Authority, Reginald Dede, urged the state government to urgently desilt canals and clear blocked drainages.

He attributed the recurring flash floods to poor drainage systems and inadequate maintenance.

Meanwhile, some children were seen navigating through flooded streets in makeshift canoes — a daily reality for many families in the area.

Ordination Thanksgiving
Pastor Izibekien and Minister Destiny Celebrate Their Ordination

Intro:
It was a joyous atmosphere as friends and family gathered to celebrate Pastor Izibekien Jollyman and Minister Destiny Sunday during the Thanksgiving of their ordination.

The two clergymen, who were officially ordained on September 7, 2025, at the headquarters of Faith Victory Church, Delta, were once addressed as “Brothers,” but have now been elevated to the ranks of Pastor and Minister. Their journey has sparked conversations among many on whether it is easy to sustain the anointing, especially in a time when some pastors are rumored to drift away from the Kingdom’s calling.

For Pastor Izibekien Jollyman and Minister Destiny Sunday, the day was filled with gratitude and excitement. They expressed joy over the success of their ordination Thanksgiving and assured the congregation of their commitment to keep the fire of God burning in their lives.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Pastor of Faith Victory Church, Pastor Desmond Egbor, alongside the Senior Pastor, Pastor Moses Etume, charged the newly ordained to remain steadfast, keep the anointing alive, and not relent in their service to God.

Still in the spirit of celebration, Pastor Moses Etume also dedicated Baby Delight shortly after the ordination Thanksgiving service.

MONTHLY SANITATION EXERCISE
Bayelsa Govt Arrests Violators For Improper Waste Disposal, Poor Hygiene

The Bayelsa State Environmental Sanitation Authority on Saturday morning arrested several violators during the monthly sanitation exercise.

Some of the defaulters were apprehended in Onopa, Ebis, Biogbolo, and Kpansia — including tricycle operators — for offenses ranging from lack of proper waste disposal facilities to poor environmental hygiene.

Authorities say some of the offenders were responsible for releasing offensive odours capable of causing diseases such as malaria and diarrhea, while others failed to clean their surroundings.
This footage shows sanitation officials dismantling illegal structures erected on drainage channels and removing pipes illegally connected for private use.

Some violators claimed their situation was due to the absence of toilet facilities in their residences.

They blamed landlords for failing to construct soakaways, forcing tenants to rely on makeshift facilities.

The Paramount Ruler of Onopa Community, Tamama Morris, said a meeting would soon be held with landlords to address the issue of proper toilet construction.

On his part, the Chairman of the Environmental Sanitation Authority, Timothy Diekivie, stressed the need for residents to comply with sanitation laws to maintain a healthy environment.

He further directed property owners across Yenagoa metropolis to clear abandoned vehicles, heaps of sand, and chippings from the streets within two months, warning that failure to comply would force the authority to take enforcement action.

BAYELSA DILAPIDATED ROADS
Yenogoa Residents, Business Owners Send Sos To State, FG Over Failing Okaka Road

Residents and business owners along the popular Okaka Road in Yenagoa are calling for urgent government intervention over its deplorable condition.
They say the road has become a nightmare, crippling businesses and cutting people off from essential movement.
With key facilities such as the Nigeria Correctional Centre located in the area, they believe the road should not have been allowed to deteriorate this badly. .

For shop owners like Mr. Nimibofa Paul and Mrs. Betty Azikiwe, Okaka Road has become more of a burden than a blessing.
They complain that customers hardly come around because of the bad road—resulting in low sales and difficulty in renewing shop rents, while government taxes still roll in.

OTHER residents say whenever it rains, the road becomes completely impassable, as tricycles, which are their major means of transport, can’t move.

Over the years, private individuals, schools, and hotels in the area have tried to ease the situation by pouring stones on the road, but these efforts only provide temporary relief as vehicles still suffer damage, and the community continues to bear the brunt.
Residents and business owners in Okaka are once again appealing to the Bayelsa State Government and the Federal Government to urgently fix the road and restore normalcy to the area.

We Made Teachers Bêggars… and now we’re Paying the Price.

They once stood tall with chalk in hand—now they bend low with bowls, begging to survive.

We strïpped them of dignity.

We mõcked their tãttered clothes.

We turned a noble profession into a national shãme.

At every PTA meeting, we ãrgued about paying them well.

We expected them to teach with passion on an êmpty stomach.

Now, most of the best minds avoid the classroom.

They choose tech, trade, and even TikTok—but not teaching.

Our children sit before those who never wanted to be there.

Some teachers now double as Okada riders.

Some sell second-hand clothes during and after school hours.

Some can't afford their own children's school fees.

We see them trekking long distances.
We pretend not to notice.

The same teachers who shaped our paths now sleep hüngry.

But we still demand miracles in our education system.

Let’s not pretend—we did this.

By nêglecting them, we built a generation that lãüghs at books.

By underpaying them, we raised yout
