Petrol Marketers to Roll Out Cheap Fuel at N100 Per Litre

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has said it is ready to roll out cheap alternative fuel fuel for Nigerians.

The association's chairman, Chinedu Okoronkow, disclosed that the body would start to roll out Compressed Natural Gas at N100 per litre, adding that the plan is to cushion the effect of subsidy removal on Nigerians.

Motorists and transport operators in Nigeria will witness relief soon after the Nigerian government ends the petrol subsidy, which caused a spike in the product's price across the country.

The national president of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Chinedu Okoronkwo, revealed that the association is 90% ready to roll out Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as an alternative fuel, which would sell between N100 to N110 per litre before the end of June.

NO PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL FOR SALARY INCREASE FOR POLITICAL OFFICE HOLDERS AND JUDICIAL OFFICERS

We have followed with consternation the viral story of the purported 114% increase in the salary of the President, Vice President, elected Federal and State political office holders and judicial officers.

We state without any equivocation that President Bola Tinubu has not approved any salary increase, and no such proposal has been brought before him for consideration.

While we recognise that it is within the constitutional remit of Revenue Mobilisation, Allocation and Fiscal Commission to propose and fix salaries and allowances of political office holders and Judicial Officers, such can not come to effect until it has equally been considered and approved by the President.

It is important to note that RMAFC, through its Public Relations Manager, has responded to this fake story being circulated and has already set the record straight.

However, that this unfounded story gained prominence on social media and in a section of mainstream media, again, brings to the fore the danger fake news poses to the society and our national well-being. The misinformation was, obviously, contrived to create ill-will for the new administration, slow down the upward momentum and massive goodwill the Tinubu-led administration is currently enjoying among Nigerians as a result of its fast paced, dynamic and progressive policies.

It is important to reiterate to journalists, media managers, and members of the public that stories on government activities and policy issues that do not emanate from approved official communication channels should be ignored.

Media practitioners are enjoined to, at all times, cross-check their stories to ensure accurate reportage, which is the hallmark of responsible journalism.

FG Approves Re-opening Of Seme Border For Vehicle Importation

Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, Ibrahim Musa, yesterday, disclosed that the Federal Government has approved the re-opening of the Seme border for the importation of vehicles.

Speaking at the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, meeting, organised between officials of Nigeria and Benin, Musa said the development followed complaints by freight forwarders operating at the Seme border.

The director, who spoke at the ECOWAS Monitoring Team’s visit to the Seme-Krake Joint Border Post, said: “I was here with the former Minister of State for Transportation when the Freight Forwarders pleaded that the border should be reactivated for the free movement of goods and services.

“The former minister made us prepare a memo to that effect. It was considered and sent to the government.”

Also speaking, the Customs Area Controller of Seme Border Command, Dera Nnadi said the service has noticed a reduction in its revenue since the importation of vehicles was banned from the land borders.

Nnadi said: “The former Minister of Transportation, responding to some of our requests and from the stakeholders, promised to take them to the Federal Executive Council, FEC, one of them is how to fully open this border.

“The Ministry has informed us that the memo has been written to FEC and it was adopted and that it would be given to the new government, he assured us that all the requests were adopted.”

Ribadu’s appointment as NSA will do Nigeria a lot of good, says Tompolo

High Chief Oweizidei Ekpemupolo alias Government Tompolo, Niger Delta peace propagator and the GOC has congratulated Nuhu Ribadu on his appointment as national security adviser (NSA).

Tompolo took out a full page in the Vanguard newspaper on Wednesday to felicitate with the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to TheCable.

Before his appointment as NSA, President Bola Tinubu had initially appointed Ribadu as a special adviser on security.

The Niger Delta leader said Ribadu, whom he described as “brother”, would take measures that will improve the country’s security apparatus.

“On behalf of my family, friends and associates, I, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, the Ibe-Ebidouwei of ljaw nation rejoice with my brother and friend, Mr Nuhu Ribadu, AIG Rtd on your appointment as the National Security Adviser (NSA) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he said.

“It gladdens my heart that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu considered you for this sensitive and exalted position due to your wealth of experience and exemplary record of performance in the Nigerian security sector.

“We thank Mr President for this appointment which we believe will do this great country a lot of good.

“I have no doubt that you will bring innovations that will drive the security apparatus of the nation to an enviable height.
