What Buhari told me after I became Speaker – Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has disclosed what the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, told him after he became Speaker of the 10th House.

In his tribute at a special expanded Federal Executive Council session in honour of ex-President Buhari at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, Speaker Abbas recalled how, in 2011, he was first elected to represent Zaria Federal Constituency at the House on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), a party founded by Buhari.

He said that after his re-election for a fourth time and emergence as Speaker of the House on June 13, 2023, ex-President Buhari gave him a piece of advice.

Speaker Abbas said: “President Buhari was no ordinary figure in our national journey. He embodied quiet strength, moral clarity, and an unshakable sense of duty. At a time when society was seduced by materialism, he chose a life of modest means and meaningful service. He was devoted to family and steadfast in his Islamic faith. His humour and humility softened his disciplined exterior.

“Buhari’s belief in the brevity of life and the certainty of judgment shaped his ascetic lifestyle and guided his public conduct. He lived not for applause or affluence but for principle, for country, and for the cause of a better Nigeria.

“To me, he was more than a leader. He was a mentor, a moral compass, and a source of guidance. My political journey began in 2011, under the banner of the Congress for Progressive Change, a party built on his credibility and character.

“A few years after my election, he honoured me by commissioning some of my constituency projects, making me the first member of the House of Representatives under the CPC to receive such recognition. I remember him in the blazing sun of Zaria, standing shoul

Betare has also made efforts and continues to do so. However, at this moment, comparing his empowerment programs with those of the Speaker is not accurate. The difference is like night and day.

To the people of Zaria, we ask for your understanding. You know I love you deeply, but truth must be told. Those trying to compare Betare with the Speaker should reconsider. If we are being sincere and conduct a true assessment, we will find that:
* If others have done 10% of the work then the Speaker has done 90%

Now, let’s talk about infrastructure: roads, new schools and renovations, food assistance, and more. Zaria must remain focused and steadfast in supporting the noble projects currently underway.

To be honest, anyone opposing these developments is only doing so for personal gain. The good works are evident and have been consistent over the past two years. When help reaches the people, they will testify. Let’s wait for 2027.

Ultimately, it is the voters who will decide. They will choose the person who truly works for their benefit. If there's any politician who has served the people better than Iyan Zazzau, time will tell.

But for now, let's set aside all distractions and focus solely on Zaria First

💥💥 SEVEN MORE TERTIARY INSTITUTIONS TO BE ESTABLISHED IN ZARIA IN THE YEAR 2025

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt Hon Abbas Tajudeen PhD. GCON, has announced the establishment of seven new federal institutions in Zaria as part of the 2025 budget. He made this disclosure during a Ramadan Iftar (breaking of fast) held in Zaria on Saturday.

According to him, the initiative aims to reinforce Zaria’s reputation as a hub for higher education.

The Speaker listed the institutions as follows:

- Federal College of Agriculture

- Federal Veterinary and Animal Husbandry Institute

- Federal Technical College

- Centre for Management Development

- Technology Incubation Centre

- School for the Disabled (Primary and Secondary)

- Four new federal secondary schools

Tajudeen assured his constituents that additional development projects with direct benefits to the people would be implemented in the 2025 fiscal year.

“With the 2025 budget now signed into law, the payment of scholarships for 2,500 indigent students in tertiary institutions will be released soon. Additionally, 4,000 more students will benefit from the scheme,” he stated.

The Speaker expressed gratitude for the unwavering support from his constituents, which he described as the foundation of his achievements in the National Assembly.

He also urged Nigerians to pray for President Bola Tinubu, emphasizing that such prayers could help the government tackle inflation and boost GDP growth. He noted that the holistic approach of the Tinubu-led administration had significantly reduced the rate of insecurity in the country.

Furthermore, in 2024, the federal government allocated N80 billion for the construction of four additional institutions in Zaria, including:

- Federal College of Nursing and Midwifery

- Federal College of Education

- Federal Open University

- Federal College for Legal & Democratic Studies
