Zuru Tragedy: KBSG Donates N10M To Parents Of Late Sisters

The Kebbi state government has donated the sum of Ten Million Naira to the parents of the two sisters who allegedly died as a result of drug misapplication at the General Hospital in Zuru.

The death of the two sisters, aged six and three, was reported to have occurred on the 18th of this month in circumstances said to have been as a result of negligence on the part of some nurses.

The two nurses alleged to have committed the act have already been arrested and are currently under investigation custody of the Police in Birnin Kebbi while investigation to unravel what truly happened continues.

In an attempt to demonstrate its seriousness on the matter, the Kebbi state government had set up a 9-man probe panel headed by the Commissioner of Information and Culture Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed BK. The Committee has since swung into action.

The donation of the N10 million, according to the Chairman of the Investigation Committee, was necessitated by the desire of the state government to assist the family in dealing with the trauma of the tragedy. Alhaji Yakubu Ahmed, who spoke at the handing over of the money at the Emir’s Palace in Zuru yesterday, remarked that the money was not meant to totally assuage the parents feeling of loss.

He said no amount of money will replace the irreparable loss, but hoped that the gesture will go a long way to give some sense that the family had not totally been neglected.

The Emir of Zuru, Alhaji Mohammed Sanusi Mikailu Sami, urged the parents to continue to see their travail as an inescapable act of the Almighty Allah.

He commended Governor Nasir Idris for his relentless passion to help people in need and for taking immediate measures to deal with the deaths of the sisters.

He appealed to medical and other health workers to update their knowledge through constant training and retraining programs in order to continue to be
relevant in a fast changing world.

He warned that it is unacceptable for health workers to be so negligent as to endanger lives so recklessly.

Speaking in the company of other close family members, shortly before receiving the money on behalf of the family, Barrister Garba Abubakar Shehu expressed the gratitude of the family to the Governor for the support he has rendered and for ensuring that the matter is investigated to ensure that it does not happen again.

He said even though they have been grossly pained by the nature of the death, they take solace in the realization that no one dies until his time to go had come.

Gen. Gajere Continues to Distribute Ramadan Palliative to Support APC Faithfuls and Residents Across Zuru Emirate.

In his humanitarian and community support initiatives, General Jafaru Mohammed Gajere has unstoppable continue to make distribution of food items to residents across the Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State.

The gesture, which is part of his complimentary assistance to the people of Zuru, Fakai, Sakaba, and Danko-Wasagu Local Government Areas, saw the official flag-off and distribution of 1,000 bags of rice to each Local Government Area, amounting to a total of 4,000 bags across the Emirate. According to the coordinators, the distribution arrangement ensures that 50 bags of rice are allocated to each ward, with the items further shared among APC stakeholders, party faithfuls, religious bodies, and security organizations to support communities during the holy month of Ramadan and in preparation for the upcoming Sallah festivities.

The items were officially handed over to APC faithfuls on behalf of General Gajere by a delegation of his coordinators who represented him during the exercise. Members of the delegation included:

Hon. Isah Marafa, Alh. Isah Gajere, Mr. Kadiri Doro, Hon. Gado Marafa, Mr. Samson Zuru, Mukhtari KG, and Hajiya Fati Rikoto

Speaking during the flag-off, the coordinators noted that the initiative reflects General Gajere’s continued commitment to supporting the welfare of the people and strengthening community solidarity across the Emirate.

They further emphasized that the assistance aligns with the call and leadership example of His Excellency, Dr. Nasiru Idris, Kauran Gwandu, Garkuwan Zuru, Gamjin Yauri, who has consistently encouraged well-meaning individuals and stakeholders to support the people, particularly during the sacred period of Ramadan and other festive celebrations.

Beneficiaries and party stakeholders across the four Local Government Areas expressed appreciation for the gesture, describing it as timely support that will help ease the burden on families during the fasting period.

The distribution exercise is expected to reach numerous communities and further reinforce the spirit of unity, compassion, and collective responsibility within the Zuru Emirate.

Outpouring of Sympathy as General Jafaru Gajere Rtd Receives Condolence Visits Over Stepmother’s Demise

For the past three days, General Muhammad Ja’afaru Gajere (Rtd) has continued to receive an overwhelming stream of sympathizers following the painful demise of his beloved stepmother.

The atmosphere at his residence has remained solemn as mourners from different walks of life troop in to express their heartfelt condolences and stand in solidarity with the retired General during this difficult period.

Earlier today, a delegation from the Izalah committee paid a courtesy visit to console with him and offer prayers for the repose of the deceased’s soul. The visit was marked by words of comfort, encouragement, and supplications for strength and fortitude for the bereaved family.

Similarly, a large number of sympathizers from Sakaba, Danko-Wasagu, Fakai, and other communities across Zuru Emirate have extended their condolences, demonstrating the strong bond and respect General Gajere commands across the region.

It would be recalled that representatives of the Liman Tanko family, alongside members of the late Idi Muhutti family of Danmangoro, had earlier paid condolence visits to mourn with the retired General and his family over the irreparable loss.

As at the time of filing this report, more well-wishers and community leaders were still arriving to pay their respects, reflecting the deep sense of unity and compassion shared among the people in moments of grief.

May the Almighty grant the deceased eternal rest and give the family the strength to bear the loss.
