🕴️Gentlemen’s Watch spoke with 𝗠𝗮𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗷𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀: known from films, Netflix series, theatre, music, and even his own podcast. An artist at heart? In many ways, yes. But he prefers not to call himself that; to him, that title belongs to people like Prince.

For Heijmans, it ultimately doesn’t matter how you label, define, or describe yourself. “There’s no point in trying to create an image of yourself, or seeing yourself through someone else’s eyes. It’s like a tooth trying to bite itself: impossible. And besides, interesting people are interested.”

It’s a Stephen Fry insight he lives by. “The people we find interesting are always those who are drawn deeply into something outside themselves. They’re not focused on how they’re perceived. They’re simply absorbed in what fascinates them. And as a by-product, they become interesting themselves.”

🕴🏻Voor de rubriek Zijn Stijl sprak Gentlemen’s Watch 𝗠𝗮𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗻 𝗛𝗲𝗶𝗷𝗺𝗮𝗻𝘀: je kent hem van films, rollen in Netflix series, het toneel, zijn zang, en zijn eigen podcast. Artiest in hart en nieren? Uiteindelijk doet het er volgens Heijmans ook helemaal niet toe hoe je jezelf benoemt. “Het heeft geen zin om een beeld van jezelf te schetsen. Om te proberen jezelf te zien door de ogen van een ander. Dat is als een tand die op zichzelf probeert te bijten: onmogelijk. Bovendien: interesting people are interested.”

Een mooi inzicht van Stephen Fry waar hij naar leeft. “De mensen die wij interessant vinden, zijn altijd de mensen die iets anders interessant vinden. En daar heel ver in gaan. Ze zijn niet bezig met zichzelf of hoe ze gezien worden, maar gewoon met wat ze boeit. Een bijproduct daarvan is dat ze zelf juist interessant worden.”

💥⌚ 𝗪𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 𝗥𝗔𝗗𝗔𝗥: A jump in time

Some watches don’t try to impress - they simply are very interesting. The new 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗼𝘀𝘄𝗶𝘀𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗲𝘂𝗿 is exactly that: a handless, mechanical “digital” watch first launched in 2005, now quietly returning two decades later, and still very much the oddball it was meant to be.

For 2025 it appears as the Neo Digiteur Granit and Sand, each 𝗹𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝟵𝟵 𝗽𝗶𝗲𝗰𝗲𝘀. Three apertures tell the story: jumping hours at 12, digital minutes at centre, sweeping seconds at 6. All powered by a hand-wound calibre with an in-house module from the Lucerne atelier, where the finishing leans more toward modern architecture than traditional watchmaking.

💯Every now and then a watch pops up that reminds you why mechanical horology is still magic. This one did exactly that.

👀 Een wijzerplaat van Frans roggestro – met de hand ingelegd in een zeshoekig honingraatmotief – een kast van ethisch verantwoord roségoud en een band van groen alligatorleer: het klinkt bijna als een kunstwerk, en dat is het ook.

💎 Dit is de nieuwe jumping-hour van de L.U.C collectie van het Zwitserse horlogehuis Chopard: de L.U.C Quattro Spirit 25. Slechts acht exemplaren zijn er gemaakt, en dat is niet verwonderlijk als je ziet hoeveel precisie en verfijning in dit horloge samenkomen. Het vakmanschap werd bekroond met het prestigieuze ‘Poinçon de Genève’ keurmerk, een onderscheiding die alleen wordt toegekend aan horloges die voldoen aan de strengste eisen van techniek, afwerking en esthetiek.

⏱️ Binnenin tikt het handmatig opwindbare L.U.C 98.06-L uurwerk, volledig ontwikkeld en gebouwd in de eigen manufactuur van Chopard.
