How to remove ums and uhs from your videos automatically 🎙️
If you ever watch yourself back on camera and cringe every time you said "um" or "uh", this one is for you. Here are two ways to remove filler words automatically using Detail. No manual editing, no re-recording.
Step 1: Open Detail and tap the plus button to create a new project.
Step 2: Record your video. The most important thing here is to not worry about saying um or uh while you're recording. Just talk naturally, Detail will clean it up for you afterwards. Focus on what you're saying, not how you're saying it.
Step 3: Choose your method. There are two ways to remove filler words in Detail.
Method 1 is Auto Edit. This is Details AI editing tool and the best option if you want Detail to do everything for you. Tap Auto Edit, and before it runs you'll see a toggle that says "Cut Filler Words." Turn that on. When Detail processes your video it will automatically remove every um and uh without you having to do anything else. On top of that, Auto Edit will also edit your video and create both short and long form versions from it. If you want a one tap solution, this is the one.
Method 2 is Edit with Text. This one gives you a bit more control. On your timeline, tap "Edit with Text" and Detail will generate a full transcript of everything you said. Once that's ready, tap Fillers at the top and it will automatically tag every filler word in your video. Hit delete and they're gone instantly from your actual video, not just the transcript. Pro tip: while you're there, also tap Silences and delete those too. It will tighten everything up and make your video flow so much better.
Once you're done, export your video or just the audio if you're turning it into a podcast episode. Either way you end up with a clean, professional final product in a fraction of the time it would take to edit manually.
