When I think of Italian cuisine, three dishes often come to my mind: the luscious Tiramisu, the versatile pasta, and the creamy risotto. Each offers a distinct experience, showcasing the breadth and depth of Italy's culinary traditions.
These are the Italian foods I've enjoyed the most in Italy.
Tiramisu
The "pick-me-up" dessert! Layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and rich mascarpone cream, dusted with cocoa. Pure bliss in every bite.
Pasta (with seafood)
Infinitely versatile and universally loved. From long spaghetti to short penne, and filled ravioli, each shape perfectly complements its sauce, always cooked al dente.
Risotto
Northern Italy's creamy comfort. Slowly cooked Arborio rice absorbs savory broth, creating a velvety dish, often finished with butter and Parmesan. A labor of love, a joy to eat.
