💭 Day 2: Guilt
Mistakes are part of learning. Teach your kids to embrace guilt as a sign to grow, not a
reason to dwell. 🌱
🌟 How Do We Learn About Guilt? 🌟
From a young age, children learn about guilt through their experiences with caregivers and
the world around them. It starts when they understand the difference between right and
wrong—but how this lesson is taught shapes how they carry guilt into adulthood.
🔍 When children feel safe to make mistakes, they learn that guilt is a signal to reflect,
repair, and grow. But when guilt is paired with shame or harsh criticism, they might
internalize feelings of inadequacy or unworthiness, leading to perfectionism,
people-pleasing, or self-blame later in life.
💔 As adults, unresolved guilt can hold us back—creating barriers to self-compassion,
fueling anxiety, and even impacting our relationships.
✨ The Good News? Guilt Doesn’t Have to Define Us. ✨
At Applejake®, we believe in teaching children—and reminding adults—that guilt is not the
enemy. The key is learning to cope with guilt in a healthy way and embracing forgiveness,
both for ourselves and others.
