During the Japanese Prime Ministerβs motorcade movements, Security Police (SP) officers of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department are responsible for protecting the Prime Minister and securing his movements.
What makes this sequence particularly interesting is the way the security detail creates space for the motorcade to safely merge onto the expressway.
SP officers lean out from the es**rt vehicles, using highly visible white gloves and clear hand signals to warn and slow surrounding traffic while the motorcade enters the main traffic flow and maintains its formation.
Japan has always been distinctive in its culture, discipline and respect for established procedures β and that approach can be seen in almost every aspect of daily life, including traffic. This footage is a great example of how protective procedures and Japanese culture come together in practice.
What do you think about this approach?
