Questions and answers.
We’re really happy with the fact that onandon will be hosting a stage at our festival! Pär Grindvik, SHDW & Obscure Shape, Henning Baer, Jeff Rushin & Nicole Rosie, Albert van Abbe*live and Wulff Modern are heading to Groningen on Saturday! We did a little Q&A session with OnandOn founder and artist Jeff Rushin.
We’ve visited your (seemingly last) OnandOn event back in March 2016. What have you been doing since?
“We decided to stop organizing parties after 7 years of programming. I look back at those times with a smile on my face and I am proud of all we’ve achieved over the years. One of the driving forces behind it was to inspire people and I think we reached that goal.”
Why did you choose Paradigm Festival to host an OnandOn stage?
“We are very honoured to host a stage at Paradigm Festival. We often hear it’s one of the most entertaining festivals to be. Paradigm approached us to see if we had any interest in hosting a stage and we thought it would be a great adventure to do so! I have missed organizing parties lately and my creativity gets stimulated through the sheer enjoyment of creating something beautiful.”
We hear a lot of enthusiastic chatter about the line-up you’ve created for your stage. Can you tell us more about the process of creating the line-up?
“As programmer of the On parties, I have a shortlist of DJ’s I find interesting and whose tracks I love to play. This has always been a major influence in the process of creating a line-up. I think it’s important to strike balance with artists that are yet to be discovered and the established DJ’s.”
You’re at the bill yourself and playing together with Nicole Rosie, as you did before Collabs 3000 at ADE last year. What makes it so special to play at your own stage?
“We’re both very much looking forward to performing an old-school b2b set. There used to be a time where we were booked almost exclusively b2b, but times have changed alright. Right now, Paradigm is the perfect setting for Nicole to pick up where she left off as a DJ after the birth of our little man!”
