We had such an amazing time yesterday in Amsterdam! Amazing venue! And the choir performance was such a treat. A couple of nerdy data: the PA system is a 10 channel setup of D&B speakers, totaling 48 V series, 40Y series and 18 SL subs. One sub alone produces 144dB SPL. The show is designed to have a large dynamic, between 80 and 150 dB SPL, with very short but very loud moments. So having a powerful PA system is a a must. I hope to do this show again!

This Will Be Us was just released! This is a new album, based on old compositions she explored on her early records, rearranged for orchestra.
Beautifully played by and recorded at ,
great album cover by ,
Recorded, ATMOS/stereo mix, and mastered by yours truly.
I did try some new mics this time, Sanken CO-100K, a fantastic option to have. They complement well with the Decca of M50s.

HEY HEY! We are playing Chernobyl Live Score at Gashouder (Amsterdam) as part of Hildur's curated this Saturday, at 8.30pm.
This is a unique music show with 10 channels of spatial audio (no video) and a superb light design by @theres_a_baumgartner .
Special feature: Groot Omroepkoor (48 singers) will perform Vichnaya Pamyat, along with other choral pieces.
Don't miss it! We are not planning to do another one.
Your life will be slightly better after you see this (maybe).

Another catch-up post... Nice time at Rick Rubin's place in Tuscany, recording with JULIUS ASAL for Deutsche Grammophon - DG . The record that came out is called Siena Tapes, an album based around Ravel pieces and improvisations (check out "Jeux D'Eau").
Engineered by yours truly with the help of Samuel Schwenk
Also nice to have two Steinway D by Fabbrini Pianoforti to choose from; one of them was Pollini's favorite for live concerts. That little church sounds fantastic!
Thanks to Mirco Mencacci of S.A.M. Studios and Lorenzo Tommasini for equipment support.

Neumann organized a special event to mark the VSM82 DMM record lathe, meticulously restored by Emil Berliner Studios .
A nice dinner centered around the direct-to-disc recording of Vladimir Korneev performing Kurt Weill in the beautiful Meistersaal (also a Bowie playground). Really nice to experience the live performance and listen back to the all-analog recording in my studio. Also meeting up with some great artists like Alexander Hacke (Einstürzende Neubauten); they portraits of us while I was explaining how to make real lasagna.

Some years ago working on the Hedda score.
Hildur Gudnadóttir and I went to the film set in Nottingham and invited the cast and crew to record vocal parts, such as breaths, random drones, and other sounds used throughout the score.
It's great to see everyone involved in the movie be an active part of the score as well. Most of the time, these two worlds don't interact.

I used some close mics, Sennheiser MKH 8040, a pair of Neumann KM140, and I was testing two Sennheiser Ambeo mics, which would enable me to change the directionality of each mic during mixing, so I could exclude some of the voices from the mix or prefer some others. All recorded with a Sound Devices Scorpio.
