Jazz and experimental music. Honolulu is an independent label for non-commercial (mainly) improvised art music.

Honolulu Records is the most sincere and caring way we found to give a concrete life to our musical and artistic thoughts: a possible way out of the traditional labels' market and a solution to avoid wasting the creativity and the ideas of a community of musicians. We are a collective of musicians with a deep love for research and experimentation. Our aim is to produce music that is a spontaneous

and necessary expression of our time and to involve an audience as wide and as various as possible. We would like to help create connections between musicians, creative people, different artistic fields and to try spreading good music as much as we can. Honolulu Records provides assisted self-production and supports artists in releasing their music by lowering the printing costs and taking care as a collective of the bureaucratic and organisational aspects of the process.

Alfonsina is a jazz singer born in Aosta, Italy. From an early age, she showed a strong musical talent and a deep love for classical music. During her teenage years, she studied opera privately while also performing in rock and pop settings. At the age of twenty, she moved to Milan, where she deepened her passion for jazz and blues, collaborating with some of the most renowned musicians on the local scene. She continued her opera studies with soprano Caterina Trogu.
Her artistic interests go beyond music: she earned a degree in Art and Cultural Market Communication from IULM University in Milan and worked as an art curator for several exhibitions. Nonetheless, her main activity remains that of a jazz singer. Currently, she teaches voice at the Scuola Musicale di Milano, leads the choir at the Gabelle community center, and works as a music therapist in the Orchestra 4 Ottavi project by Mediafriends, performing in prestigious venues such as Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo.

This project was born from the idea of sound emerging from a root, a place where all codes dissolve and what remains is pure essence. The film “Being There”, with its visionary portrayal of a gardener disconnected from the world’s language yet rising to prominence through his unique sensitivity, inspired the track “Beyond the Garden” and shaped the nature-infused atmosphere of the entire work.
The songs explore themes that reflect the depth of human experiences: from the intensity of friendship bonds, to the tension towards freedom, to the reflection on the natural flow of life. Each composition captures a fragment of these experiences, presenting them with a musical language that intertwines jazz tradition with contemporary sounds.

The track explores the existential theme of detachment from one’s emotions in their ever-changing nature, moving through sudden states of awareness in its requiem, “Beyond the garden”. It unfolds as an introspective and layered soundscape, where suspended melodic lines intertwine with fractured rhythms and fluid harmonies. A jazz-rooted foundation merges with contemporary sonorities, creating a dreamy atmosphere.

Il brano esplora il tema esistenziale del distacco dalle proprie emozioni nella loro mutevolezza, attraverso stati improvvisi di consapevolezza nel suo requiem, “Beyond the garden”. Si sviluppa come un paesaggio sonoro introspettivo e stratificato, dove linee melodiche sospese si intrecciano con ritmi fratturati e armonie fluide. "Axiom is telling a story about my struggles
during migration, dealing with nostalgia,
letting go of memories and falling in love
with music again every day of the year.
This story started when I began integrating
in Europe after leaving everything I owned
and knew in Caracas, Venezuela.
Axiom is the manifestation of my growth
in experimenting with compositional methods
and electronics.
This debut album consists of songs that grew
out of drawings, Messiaen- and Schönberg
concepts and spontaneous melodies. It’s the
sound of a search for freedom within intricate
compositions, all influenced by my musical
experiences in the past 20 years. Experiences
gained over a variety of music, countries
and continents.

I thank my band members Tineke, Bo, Tristan
and Jonathan for believing in Axiom and standing
by me while making every decision throughout the
entire creating and recording process over the
past years.

I express my infinite
gratitude to Frédéric Van Der Vaeren,
