Watch astronauts play with a fidget spinner in space.
The internet's scientific prayers have been answered: we now know definitively what happens when you spin a fidget spinner in space. And it is predictably awesome.
To spin the toy in space, an astronaut grips the center just like an earthling would do, and gives the outer ring a swirl. But things get interesting when the astronaut releases the spinner into the low-gravity environment of the space station. The spinner floats around, while continuing to spin, and even spins around itself in some sort of triple spin with no signs of slowing down.

Almighty monarch of surprise social media storms, Beyonce, has dropped an almighty special video in honor of the International Day of the Girl on Oct. 11.
Produced in conjunction with Chime for Change and Global Goals, the clip sees a group of outrageously fierce girls lip sync and break it the heck down to Beyonce's "Freedom," the get-out-of-the-damn-way track from 2016's Lemonade.

"Support girls around the world to realize their dreams," reads the caption on Beyonce's Instagram post, directing folks to the Global Goals website and the campaign, aimed at ending violence against women and promoting quality education.

Terrible news. Mere weeks after obtaining my beloved fidget spinner, I have been told that not only are they "over," but they have been over for months.

The first murmurs of the spinner's demise came as early as May. Financial analyst Bradley Thomas, who hates when I have fun, noticed that fidget spinners had declined in both Amazon rankings and Google search rankings—a surefire sign it had already reached its peak.
From there, the signals only became clearer. FiveThirtyEight wrote its eulogy for the fidget spinner in mid-June. In August, the New York Times published a story chronicling its "fall." And as the summer waned, the Washington Post declared that while fidget spinners had indeed become passé for children, they were gaining popularity among adults.

The Silicon Valley start-up Pi says they have found a way to charge phones and tablets by simply placing the devices near its cone-like charger.

If the company’s claims are true, the Pi charger would be the world’s first contactless charger. This device doesn’t simply ditch wires — it is an innovative leap beyond the recently introduced charging pads, which power devices by placing them on the pads.

The start-up Pi says that it has developed a wireless and contactless charging station, a technological leap beyond charging pads, such as the forthcoming Apple AirPower.
