In the same week we've seen the new trailer for The Last Jedi, AI and humanoid robotic company UBTECH has released a new Star Wars Stormtrooper robot. It'll come with an augmented reality app, and can take voice commands, do facial recognition and even sentry patrolling.
The First Order Stormtrooper Robot's AR app mode is supported by a voice activated command feature so you can issue direct verbal orders to your robot, launch "attacks" and tackle those pesky rebels through the app interface.

Half a million people have already plunked down $1,000 to reserve a Tesla Model 3 all-electric sedan. They’re so high in demand, in fact, that even Elon Musk’s mother says she’s nowhere near the front of the list to receive one.

Maye Musk, who at 69 years old just became the latest CoverGirl, told The New York Times that she will patiently wait her turn for Tesla's more affordable, less luxurious offering.

Next month, Switzerland's hospitals will be equipped with a potentially revolutionary autonomous drone delivery network.

Healthcare providers and a Menlo Park, California company called Matternet have teamed up to implement the system across the country. And on Wednesday, Matternet announced that they had completed "the third and final technology component" to make their drone and information system a reality.

Scientists have invented a device the size of the pen which can detect cancer in a matter of seconds, aiding surgeons to remove "every last trace" of the disease.

The device is capable of identifying cancerous cells 150 times faster than conventional technologies and was 96% accurate in tests.
Researchers from the University of Texas say that the MasSpec Pen can help surgeons identify which tissue should be removed and which should be preserved, to help patients' recover.

Rafael Nadal defeats Kevin Anderson in US Open final for 16th grand slam title

When Rafael Nadal said early in this tournament he was not looking forward to his next birthday, it was tempting to assume the finishing line in his career might be nearer than he cared to contemplate. In the final of the 2017 US Open on Sunday, the Peter Pan of tennis laughed at time in more ways than one, playing with the bouncing zest of his youth to breeze past Kevin Anderson in two hours and 27 minutes for his third title here and the 16th slam of his long career.

Afterwards Nadal said: “It has been a very special two weeks for me, but congratulations to Kevin. He’s a great example to a lot of kids, had a lot of tough injuries. Personally, it’s unbelievable what’s happened to me after a couple of years of injuries, playing not so good. But I’ve been playing a high level of tennis and the crowd here brings me to a higher level of energy.”
