Giving history auditory context at Kasteel Ammersoyen

We worked together with Studio Louter and Kasteel Ammersoyen for the second phase of Ammersoyen's visitor route. We designed a couple of new atmospheric soundscapes and audio stories.

The best way to deliver these is to listen and mix on location. That way, we can calibrate our audio to the acoustics of each historic space: from the wooden dining room to the semi-underground brewing cellar.

We can’t wait for visitors to hear the stories echoing through the corridors.

Many thanks to all partners: Geldersch Landschap & Kasteelen, Even More, Frank van Munster, Shosho, Flink, Rien van Esterik, Marius Bruijn, Marieke Knuijt, Floor Kleuskens, Studio Louter, Sarah van Kerkvoorde, Juliette Lindhout

An added bonus of this work:
After spending hours recording and editing Sir Simon Schama, Martine Gosselink and the English version of the Vogelspotcast, we can now speak as confidently about Brancusi and 17th-century masters as we can about the mating habits of the Swan.

It’s all part of our latest production for the Mauritshuis: the audio tour for the exhibition, BIRDS.

In close collaboration with Mauritshuis' Vera Bos, we handled the full production, including recording, editing, and mixing.

The tour features Sir Simon Schama, who recorded the English version with us, and Mauritshuis Director Martine Gosselink, whom we recorded for the Dutch version.

We also managed the English adaptation of the Vogelspotcast (originally by Gisbert van Baalen and Arjan Dwarshuis), providing the translation and casting British actors for the international release.

BIRDS, Curated by The Goldfinch & Simon Schama, now at the Mauritshuis.

Every month, the equivalent of an entire classroom, 26 young people, end their own lives. These aren’t just statistics; they are lives and stories we can no longer look away from.

This was not an easy project to work on, but it was nevertheless a very important one. By speaking out, the 113 fund wants to break the taboo and lower the barrier to seeking help.

The campaign centers on the courage of the families who shared their stories and it exists because of the care of the 113 fonds, N=5, the many creative professionals who contributed and the 113 team for the integrity of their dedication. Help save lives.

We made a brief return this week to the Oranjehotel, this time to check the new language editions of Oranjehotel Junior. Following the success of last year’s Dutch edition, we have now delivered international versions of the educational program.

Adapting this immersive program was a meticulous task that demanded fidelity: the translation had to be word-for-word, the voice-acting had to retain the intended tone, and the editing and mixing had to stay perfectly aligned with the original soundscape.

Almost the entire original Dutch cast returned to record in the new languages, while we cast internationally for the narration and children’s voices. It was a privilege to help share this important history with even more young audiences.

Many thanks to the Nationaal Monument Oranjehotel, Flink, Maarten Stolk (Even More), Dick Peterse (Beeld & Beweging), and Studio Louter for the great collaboration.

Working with the team at Capybara Animation on a short or even ultra-short animation film is always a blast: fun, inspiring, and wonderfully educational.

Time pressure? Hardly any, since we always start early.Fun level? Maximum, because the directors are open to anything and give us plenty of creative freedom.Stamina? Not really an issue, as the films are ultra-short.And the way visuals and audio come together? Pure symbiosis every time.

The only downside is that we have to wait a bit before we can share the full 2.5 minutes with the world, as festivals and other obligations get first priority.
Now HOEBA is finally on YouTube.
It’s worth every second, and you’ll finally discover the true origin of the ancient stone structures (hunebedden) in the Netherlands.

Step into A Suitcase Full of Choices: a new interactive exhibition for the younger visitors of the Freedom Museum.

What would you do in times of war?

Follow Emma as she discovers a mysterious suitcase in her attic, leading to the life story of her great-grandmother Lena and the difficult choices young people faced during wartime. A powerful, hands-on experience for families and schools that invites reflection, dialogue, and discovery across generations.

We enjoyed working on the audio post for all films + audio-stories and also produced the English and German versions, from casting to final mix.

From barbershop buzz and gentle car hum to busy builders. Real sounds, layered atmospheres, quiet moments. It’s often the subtle sounds in the background that make everything tangible.

Voice casting, sound design and mixes for TV, radio, and cinema, and a bit of field recording fun. A great campaign to work on.

Thanks to STMPD Studios for the cinema mastering, and Solid Base Management for helping us find the perfect voice.

A mix-lock on an ultrashort animation film (2,5 min.) validates an ultra-small bottle of bubbles! 🥂🍾

‘Lost and Found’ is premiering at Nederlands Film Festival on September 28 as part of Ultrakort.

In this poetic 3D animation we follow Ella, an idiosyncratic employee at the lost-and-found desk of a vast brutalist train station. Is there still room for wonder in a world of hurried efficiency?

The Crossing is a Dutch documentary following teenagers sailing the Wylde Swan back across the Atlantic during the pandemic. A remarkable coming-of-age journey of danger, teamwork, and resilience.

Filmed mostly with phones and small cameras, the documentary required many sounds to be created from scratch - adding storytelling detail and conveying the awe of the ocean, while preserving authenticity.

The Crossing will be screened at the 2025 Film by the Sea festival on September 18th.

For Veluwe Remembers, designed by Kinkorn and built by Kloosterboer Decor BV, we recorded and produced the stories visitors hear along the Westerbork walking path.

Seven remembrance objects have been placed along the route across the Veluwe, each telling a local story from the Second World War.

The audio combines excerpts from interviews, performances by actors Leopold Witte (Henneman Agency) and Momo Samwel (Narrative Talent Management), and the testimony of the brothers Meijer Cohen, sharing their family history.

Commissioned by the Municipality of Gemeente Ermelo, in collaboration with regional partners under Veluwe Remembers.

Tucked away in the heart of Utrecht, between a jewelry store and a hotel, a narrow alley leads to the historic Lofen Palace. A mysterious and atmospheric place….

We just wrapped a wonderful project in collaboration with Timo van der Horst and Marijn Harteveld of Tinker Imagineers, helping bring the story of Lofen Palace to life—through animated voice performances, period-accurate music, and subtle layers of narrative sound design.

The result is a rich, medieval experience, set on the very spot where, nearly a thousand years ago, Emperor Henry IV granted key privileges to the bishop of Utrecht—laying the early foundations of what would eventually become the Netherlands.

Now open to the public in the Domunder visitor center in Utrecht.

After more than two years in production, the feature film KIND is now making its way to cinemas and festivals, starring Vincent van der Valk, Noortje Herlaar and Tamar van den Dop.

The sound journey for this film took us off the beaten track—it challenged us creatively and brought out some of our most resourceful work. Now that KIND is wrapped, we’re quietly proud—but also reminded how much we love diving into these kind of big, personal film projects.

We’re grateful to director Jan Verdijk for a sharp, honest, and inspiring collaboration. If you’re able to laugh, argue, be crass, demanding, and honest with each other during a marathon like this, you know you’ve entered a new level of trust.

Jan stayed, as always, on creative course—something that can’t be lauded enough. Producer Daniel Dow (DPPLR) steered this ship with heart. Editor Joshua Menco brought structure and soul. And composer Koen van de Wardt delivered a score that’s tantalising, eerie & bold. Not to mention Noël Schoolderman—whose stylised work gave us visual texture to match and writer Johan Paul de Vrijer for letting us soundify his storylines.

The meticulous production sound of colleague Gijs Domen delivered, inspired and elevated our sound design process—and kept our ADR sessions to a minimum (a rare and welcome situation).

On the post-sound side we brought in a small but versatile sound team: a dedicated foley crew from Foley Art Studio in Kiev, Kirill Den Outer as in-house sound effects editor, and Lennart Kleinen & Alan van Ramshorst on sound design, dialog editing, and re-recording mix. We topped the mix off at Posta-Vermaas, where Max van den Oever helped us tremendously during the short theatrical mastering round in their big mixing stage—unconventional, we know, but so was the whole project.

Can’t thank all the people above and all the other cast & crew enough. Excited to see—and hear—KIND out in the world soon.

For now, check out the trailer, edited by Angelo Raaijmakers.
