About us

Since 2006 Radio Zamaneh has successfully facilitated Persian writers, Islamic scholars, prominent Iranians and personalities at the heart of Iranian culture to provide their views and thoughts. We create a platform that connects the prevalent voices and views. Our programming is a mixture of world news and current affairs, of social and cultural issues, and of entertainment. Central to

our programming are the voices of the unheard; of women and of ethnic, religious and s*xual minorities. Topical debates such as 'How can young Iranians meet and engage in relationships' and 'How can minorities' rights be improved?' have made inroads in many Iranian households thanks to coverage by Radio Zamaneh. History

Back in 2005 Press Now partnered up with a team of Iranian journalists to form Radio Zamaneh. The Dutch government decided to support the development of media plurality in Iran after a unanimous vote in parliament. Radio Zamaneh was established in 2006 as a non-profit organization under Dutch law. The station depends on donor support for its finances. It has no ties to any political, ethnic or social group inside or outside Iran. Internet broadcasting started on 4 August 2006, while satellite broadcasting started on 1 September 2006. Shortwave broadcasting started on 7 September 2006 but was terminated in December of 2007.

A new U.S. sanctions designation has confirmed Solmaz Bani's place in Babak Zanjani's corporate and cryptocurrency network—as both his partner and a behind-the-scenes operator.

On July 24, 2026, the U.S. Treasury Department's Office of Foreign Assets Control imposed a new round of targeted sanctions intended to dismantle what it described as the shadow financial network of Iranian businessman Babak Zanjani. Bani — also known as Niyoosha and Sara — was named among four close associates sanctioned alongside him.

Zamaneh traces her story: from a Dubai-based model to president of Zanjani's BZ Group, and the digital trail — from social-media posts to a shared pet cat — connecting their private lives to a multibillion-dollar cryptocurrency empire accused of laundering money for the Revolutionary Guard.

War and economic crisis eliminate women's jobs first, deepening poverty, financial dependence, and exposure to domestic violence.

Of all the unemployment-insurance claims registered during the 40 days following the war, approximately one-third concern women — a very high figure, given that women's participation in formal employment is already far lower than men's.

Zamaneh's field report traces how this crisis is unfolding: women heads of households losing informal jobs first, middle-class women pushed into financial dependence, and app-based driving offering only the least secure corner of a profession still closed to them elsewhere. Through the stories of Parisa, Tayebeh, and four dismissed journalists, the report shows what unemployment really costs — housing, autonomy, legal protection, and the limited power women had to resist dependence and violence.

Four defendants in Isfahan's Alikhani Square case have been executed, with dozens more on death row amid torture allegations and trials that lasted only hours. Abolfazl Sepahi and Amirhossein Safari were publicly hanged on July 28, following the executions of two other co-defendants on July 19. More than 70 people arrested during the January 2026 uprising remain at risk in Isfahan's Dastgerd Prison. As Iran's economy has moved deeper into crisis, s*x work is no longer a hidden or shame-laden phenomenon confined to the margins of its cities. It has become one of the clearest signs of the collapse of social protections and the intensification of exploitation within Iran's crisis-ridden economy.

Women, men, migrants, older people, and young people experience these conditions differently. What they share is the struggle to survive in a society where employment, social protection, and the possibility of making meaningful choices are becoming increasingly restricted.
