As you all know, we made PRISON FOR PROFIT, a documentary about a big privatized prison in South Africa. In the film you see the consequences what happens when profit becomes more important than the wellbeing of humans.
When we started making the film we knew little about the privatization of public services, but the making of the film quickly made it clear that privatizing public services is a bad idea. There are tons of example in the USA & UK, but what about the Netherlands? Many public services (paid with our tax money) have been brought to the market and privatized since the 1980s.
Especially now during the corona crisis, it became even more clear that health care, education, police, among others, no longer function normally, due to years of cutbacks, bureaucracy and efficiency. Services have become expensive for us and unworkable for employees.
That is why we started the platform THE PRIJS VAN PRIVATISERING (the price of privatization).
