'Be the Ice Sculptor' is the final assignment of School of Motion's Animation Bootcamp. All Animation Principles are covered in this video. Everything that we have been studying the last six weeks is somehow embedded in this project. SOM delivered a raw file with concept art, storyline, Voice Over and Music. My task was to make an awesome animation out of this "goody bag." The message is great: "Don't fixate on learning the tool! Learn the craft! Be the artist! :)

After reading the book 'the freelance manifesto' by Joey Korenman, I became so enthusiastic about the school of Motion that I registered for the winter '22 edition of Animation Bootcamp. The last 7 weeks or so I have been animating my ass off (in between another semi full-time job, being a loving and action driven father and all the s**t that is happening in the world; yes it was also a great distraction)
The reason for this was that I wanted to gain more experience with After Effects with regard to motion graphics. This course is not necessarily about animating in Adobe After Effects, although this is "the weapon of choice.” This 12-week course focuses in particular on the Animation Principles such as: Timing & Spacing, Follow through, Anticipation, Over shoot, Oscillation and Secondary Animation and then break these rules. The acquired knowledge is not limited to After Effects, but can be applied in all 2D and 3D Animation software as well as old school hand drawn animation.
This course has brought me a mountain of knowledge, enthusiasm and motivation.
I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in Motion Graphics and Animation. It's the ultimate foundation.
