In low-key lighting there is an ample amount of shadow in the scene. This is because normally this technique uses a single light source.

Both high-key and low-key techniques are used to illuminate a scene / model / object. They tend to serve specific purposes, for example low-key lighting lighting renders a dark and mysterious look to a scene. It can also define shapes, accentuating them. Low-key lighting is also the key to make dynamic portraits.

The self-timer feature is a delayed shutter response mechanism. It actually used to be a hardware mechanism back in film camera days, but all modern cameras have it built into the software.

If you don’t have brown watercolor paint, no worries. You can mix equal quantities of each of the primary colors (red, yellow and blue) to form a basic brown. Adjust by adding a dab of each primary to alter or darken the brown.
