Next Thursday, March 19, LudoWic’s “Memories of a silent movie” EP will be released. For the artwork, collaborated with designer Tomohiro Yokokawa ().
Look at how this artwork is made using an old offset printing technique, with the inherent small fluctuations and deviations that come with it. Tomohiro Yokokawa collaborated with a fantastic team for this. Many thanks to LIVE ART BOOKS ().
About artwork:
Untitled (4:3), 2026
Untitled (4:3) is an attempt to treat the oil-based offset printing process itself as a pseudo “silent film screening.” On the page, only the silent-film screen ratio (4:3 / 1.33:1) is established as the initial condition in the form of a field of color, while the generation of the image is entrusted to printing techniques and artisans’ judgment.
The image emerges through the process’s indeterminacy and repeated calibration, and its deviations produce differences from sheet to sheet. The work reveals that difference, singularity, and embodied judgment are inevitably embedded within the “identity” pursued by twentieth- and early twenty-first-century technologies of reproduction.
