🔥Diaghilev’s Masquerade🔥

Tomorrow we bring Winteravonden aan de Amstel to a close with an evening full of colour, imagination and contrast.
A musical masquerade — just as Sergei Diaghilev might have imagined.

🎭This is a true masquerade, so come dressed up and let your creativity speak. At the end of the evening, a jury will award the most beautiful costumes.

🎫The programme features music by Arensky, Poulenc, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Saint-Saëns, performed by outstanding musicians including Olga Pashchenko, Lidy Blijdorp, Andrey Gugnin, Nadia Wijzenbeek, Ensemble Qusion, Jeroen Sarphati and Fee Suzanne de Ruiter.
With a special Ballets Russes–inspired improvisation by Ensemble Qusion (on video).

Originally scored for orchestra, arranged by Darius Milhaud, and reimagined through piano preparations by Alexei Lubimov, these sounds echo an entire ensemble.

We have seen Lubimov and Slava Poprugin on Monday night at the Winteravonden aan de Amstel— and today, Lubimov is at Amsterdam Conservatory passing this unique language on in his masterclass.

A concert to remember forever. Yesterday marked Alexei Lubimov’s final performance, a deeply moving farewell featuring Debussy.

Andrey Gugnin performed Stravinsky’s Petrushka and The Firebird.

Slava Poprugin joined Alexei for works by Stravinsky and Satie’s Cinéma on prepared piano.

Get in the Firebirds spirit with Ritual Dance of the Fire played by pianist Ivan Petrenko!

Today we kick off the 2025 Winteravonden aan de Amstel Festival with a concert given by Jonge Strijkers Nederland & students of the Davidsbündler Academy.

This new generation of artists has chosen works to complement the Firebirds theme, and Ivan gives us a quick look at this fiery piece by Manuel de Falla 🔥

Join us today at 13:30 at the Waalse Kerk in Amsterdam for this Young Talent Concert and stick around for a literary concert of Schilderijententoonstelling with cellist Lidy Blijdorp, pianist Tobias Borsboom and Jan Brokken, featuring texts from The Discovery of Holland as they explore Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition from a Dutch perspective.

Een heel bijzonder concert tijdens deze editie van Winteravonden vindt plaats op donderdag 18 december in het OBA Theater. Om 20.15 uur spelen we daar een eigen productie van Stravinsky's korte komische opera Mavra. Dit werk wordt voorafgegaan door een inleiding waarbij acteur Marcel Faber in de huid kruipt van Aleksandr Poesjkin. Mis deze kans niet!

Winteravonden aan de Amstel

Op zondagochtend 14 december van 10.00-12.00 worden voorbijgangers in de centrale hal van Station Amsterdam Centraal verrast met pop-up concerten. Een blaaskwintet van Jonge Virtuozen speelt delen uit de Peter en de Wolf van Prokofiev en De Notenkraker van Tsjaikovski, afgewisseld met sfeervolle kerstliederen.
