The Dutch organ tradition. What a world.

Like many local traditions, it has slipped slightly out of fashion. When I said I wanted to visit the Organ Museum in Elburg, people laughed and said they were already looking forward to the Instagram posts.

Fair enough. An organ museum does sound rather niche.

But I was genuinely drawn in. I’ll share a few impressions, and some of the things that triggered my curiosity.

Main photo is a mini model of an organ. I chose modern organ music because you can hear the resemblance with the flute and I refer to Anna Lapwood | Organist who seems to have made the organ popular again.

The church of Hattem. A place that looks like a village but is really a city.

The church started catholic and was reverted into a Protestant one. So sober, white walls, no stained glass and in this case loads of loose chairs, kept in line by a nifty construction.

And two organs, one from the 16de century.
