Nine process of applying for Ausbildung process
Choose an Ausbildung occupation
Select the profession you want to train for e.g. nursing, IT, mechatronics, logistics, hotel management, electrician, etc.
Check the requirements
Check the educational, language and occupation-specific requirements. For a vocational-training visa, B1 German is normally required, although exceptions can apply.
Make It In Germany
Prepare your documents
Usually prepare:
International passport
CV/Lebenslauf
School certificates
Certificates/qualifications
German-language certificate, where required
Motivation letter
Work experience/reference documents, if applicable
Search for an Ausbildung vacancy
Find companies or vocational schools offering Ausbildung positions. The Federal Employment Agency and Make it in Germany provide official resources for finding positions.
Apply directly to the company/school
Submit your CV and required documents. Some employers will invite you for an interview or assessment.
Receive your Ausbildung contract
If the employer accepts you, you receive the Ausbildungsvertrag (training contract) or the relevant confirmation of your training place.
Prepare your visa application
If you are a non EU citizen, you normally need a German visa for vocational training. You will need evidence of the training place, language ability and sufficient means of subsistence.
Apply for the Ausbildung visa
Submit the application through the appropriate German mission/official online process and provide the required documents.
Make It In Germany
Travel to Germany and start your Ausbildung
Once your visa is approved, you can travel and begin the training according to your contract.
