I truly donā€™t understand why we are in such a rush to make babies independent.

A 9-month-old is still a baby.

They spent 9 months literally connected to their mother, and then we expect them to sleep alone, in a separate room, away from the person theyā€™ve known their entire existence.

Why are we acting like a baby needing their mum is a bad thing?

They donā€™t know theyā€™re ā€œsupposedā€ to be independent. They donā€™t understand why the person who has always been there suddenly isnā€™t right next to them.

We are pushing babies to separate before they are even developmentally ready, then wondering why they struggle with attachment, comfort, and needing reassurance.

A baby isnā€™t being spoiled because they want their parent close.

They arenā€™t being ā€œmade dependentā€ because they sleep near you.

They are literally babies.

The goal was never to force independence as early as possible.

The goal is to raise children who feel safe enough to become independent when theyā€™re ready, AT THEIR OWN PACE.
