If you’ve worked in childcare, you’ll probably understand this 😂🍝

I spent years working in nurseries, studying Early Years and creating activities with open-ended resources, sensory experiences and child-led play… and honestly, sometimes the simplest things create the BEST opportunities for exploration.

So yes, that’s my child playing with a bowl of spaghetti hoops 😂

To someone else, it might just look like a child making a mess with their dinner. But to me, I see them exploring texture, squishing, scooping, transferring, making marks, using their imagination and deciding for themselves what they want to do with it.

There’s no right or wrong way to play with an open-ended resource — and it doesn’t have to come in a beautiful wooden box with a Montessori label on it. 😂

Sometimes it’s literally just spaghetti hoops.

And before anyone comes for me… yes, I know that’s food. 😂 This isn’t something I’m suggesting you have to do, it’s just child-led exploration and something my child is clearly having fun with.

Early-years workers… tell me you see it too? 👀🍝
