Join us now for an informative and valuable lecture. This event is open to everyone interested in learning how to earn from their work as a music creator and professional.

Free, limited spots, link in bio.
Date: October 10, 2025
Times: 18:00 - 22:00
Location: Abbey Road Institute, Q-Factory 3rd floor

Music Rights on Tour is a program that helps emerging music professionals navigate through different rights organisations. During the masterclass, participants will learn about the entire process of creating and performing music, as well as receiving compensation for their rights as creators. We will address the often-asked question about the distinctions between BumaStemra, Sena, and NORMA using clear examples. The presentation will conclude with a Q&A and a quiz that assesses the acquired knowledge and provides an opportunity to earn the first money.

Last week, Brad Sundberg and his team visited us for an exclusive lecture and a two-day event for his guests and friends, sharing stories from his work with Michael Jackson and Bruce Swedien. Sundberg, a sound engineer and technical director, worked on four landmark albums and several tours with Michael Jackson. He travels globally, sharing experiences through immersive lectures titled “In the Studio With MJ,” offering behind-the-scenes stories, unreleased insights, and recordings.

It was an incredible experience, especially for students and staff who are big Michael Jackson fans, making it unforgettable. Attendees felt goosebumps and tears of joy. During the exclusive lecture for our students, Brad shared valuable studio etiquette and recording techniques from MJ sessions, some of which are more relevant today, helping to reintroduce human emotion into recordings.

Thanks, Brad (and Maddie), for sharing these stories!

Sundberg is known for his collaboration with Michael Jackson, working with Bruce Swedien and Bill Bottrell on albums Bad, Dangerous, HIStory, and Blood on the Dance Floor between 1987-1997.

Check out for more photos of the event and info about his upcoming events.

Bindu De Knock is our guest lecturer for the Music Business and Management module, where she discusses the differences between Copyrights and Music Publishing, as well as contracts and deal-making. She provides several examples and invites contacts from her network, including her lovely dog Haydn, to share their perspectives and experiences within the competitive music industry. This time, it was music producer and artist Noam Ofir (). Students are also asked to research copyright and publishing cases, present their findings in class, sparking discussions that lead to valuable insights. Some of the topics included:

- Taylor Swift's reacquisition of her master rights and her re-recordings
- The dispute between RIAA and Suno and its implications
- Kate Bush's involvement with Netflix's Stranger Things
- Maggie Rogers and Pharrell collaborations
- Multiple sampling and reinterpretation cases

Recently, Bindu was interviewed by the well-known Belgian newspaper De Standaard. The interview covered topics such as sampling, including how Doechii sampled Gotye and Luís Bonfá, which helped her achieve a worldwide hit (See slides for reference).

This is part of our MB&M module, where our team of lecturers encourages students to adopt an entrepreneurial mindset, which is crucial in the dynamic and competitive music industry landscape. Our aim: building a sustainable career in music. Stay tuned for more.
