Sisters Not Twins Photography and filmmaking duo based between Amsterdam and London Through playing with documentary and theatre they create their own realities.

Melanie and Anne-Marie met in 2012 in the small, beautiful state of Rhode Island while they were both studying abroad at the Rhode Island School of Design. Their connection began during a special photography class, led by mega inspiration Scott Alario in which they shared and discussed their own work as critics come friends. Hailing respectively from The Netherlands and England, they forged a frie

ndship over their shared enthusiasm for telling stories through a lens. With backgrounds in journalism, experimental film and communication design, they started to discover their own way of approaching and analyzing subjects, people and stories. They found their predominant mutual interest lies in their love of observing humans and their relationships with each other. In 2014, Melanie moved to Amsterdam to continue their working together and thus Sisters Not Twins was born. Themes that interest the duo include: identity, sisterhood, family and pop culture.
