𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 | 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞

Last week I had the privilege of speaking at the Stichting Positieve Impact event — about something that matters deeply to me: 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, and what it means to 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐥𝐲 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬.

* 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘮𝘦𝘢𝘯𝘴 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘷𝘦𝘴.
* 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯-𝘤𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨.
* 𝘉𝘦𝘺𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵-𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘮 𝘧𝘪𝘹𝘦𝘴.

We need to start 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐦𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦, where 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘢𝘴 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦 𝘩𝘰𝘭𝘥𝘴 𝘱𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘢𝘭. It requires a systems-vision evolution, it requires creating new ways.

We have to 𝐝𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐬𝐤 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐮𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 — the ones we usually avoid — because only then will we unlock disruptive answers that spark real movement.

𝐖𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬.

Future fluency means more than forecasting — 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.
To thrive, we need to think beyond the timelines we’ve inherited.

𝐏𝐚𝐤 𝐣𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐝𝐢𝐮𝐦: 𝐖𝐚𝐚𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐣𝐞𝐳𝐞𝐥𝐟 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐮𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐬

Soms heb je iemand nodig die je even recht aankijkt en zegt:
“𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐰 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐚𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐞 𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐯𝐨𝐥. 𝐄𝐧 𝐝𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐧.” Dat deed 🎤 bij mij, tijdens haar één-op-één masterclass  .

Ik help bedrijven om hun 𝐰𝐞𝐠 𝐭𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧 𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐝 𝐯𝐨𝐥 𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐞𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐡𝐞𝐢𝐝 en versnelling — maar soms vind ik het zelf nog spannend om écht te staan voor wie ik ben:

* een 𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐢𝐭 in mijn vakgebied
* een 𝐠𝐢𝐝𝐬 in toekomstvragen
* en iemand die anderen 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩𝐭 𝐡𝐮𝐧 𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐭𝐞 𝐯𝐫𝐚𝐚𝐠 𝐭𝐞 𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐧, ook als dat betekent dat er iets wezenlijks moet veranderen.

𝐍𝐞𝐰𝐬𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐡 (𝘥𝘪𝘦 𝘪𝘬 𝘻𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘰𝘥𝘪𝘨 𝘩𝘢𝘥):
We stellen vaak niet meer de juiste vragen. Waarom niet? Omdat we de antwoorden niet aandurven. Maar juist 𝐝áá𝐫 𝐳𝐢𝐭 𝐦𝐢𝐣𝐧 𝐤𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐭 — en mijn bijdrage.

Eva liet me inzien dat mijn verhaal 𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐭 𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐧𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐣𝐤 𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐬, 𝐦𝐚𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐦𝐚𝐠 𝐝𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐥𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠. Geen abstracte toekomstvisie, maar een praktische uitnodiging om als organisatie wendbaar, wijs en toekomstvaardig te worden.

Dus: sta je aan de 𝐯𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐯𝐚𝐧 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠? Of ben je zoekende in onzekere tijden? Laat me weten waar jij tegenaan loopt — 𝘪𝘬 𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘬 𝘨𝘳𝘢𝘢𝘨 𝘮𝘦𝘵 𝘫𝘦 𝘮𝘦𝘦.

𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐡𝐲 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲.

We tend to think we are strategically planning for the long-term Future, but if push comes to shove, we are not able to look ahead far enough. 𝐒𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦-𝐥𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐬, which often takes more than 10 years.

Nothing is lost yet, as 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐛𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞. Future thinking, refers to the cognitive process of considering and anticipating future possibilities, trends, outcomes. It 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦.

We should not take Future Thinking as a method too lightly as 𝐢𝐭 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐩𝐮𝐬𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐢𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐜 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 and here are 4 reasons why:

> 𝐇𝐮𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭: it enables you to understand humans better. By analyzing demographic shifts, technological advancements, and cultural changes, you can tailor products, services, and strategies to meet the future demands of your target audience.

> 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐀𝐝𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐠𝐞: it enables you to stay ahead of your competitors by identifying emerging trends, technologies, and consumer preferences. It helps you identify and mitigate potential risks and uncertainties, that you then can adapt your strategy to.

> 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐝𝐚𝐩𝐭𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲: encourages innovation by challenging conventional thinking and encouraging creative solutions. It helps you wander of the beaten track to innovate on system-level.

Let’s move beyond the “we need more women in the boardroom” conversation. Leadership isn’t about labels. It’s not about ticking boxes. It’s about impact. Vision. The courage to lead authentically—without being confined by outdated frameworks.

As I write in my latest article Leadership Without Labels (see link in bio):
✨ “The future of leadership is about flexibility, shared responsibility, and breaking away from the idea that leadership belongs to just one face or one role.”

The future of female leadership isn’t about female leadership - it’s about striving for equal leadership.

So let’s stop dividing leadership into “male” or “female” and start talking about what really matters: good leadership.

“𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 – 𝐀 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬”

Last Monday, I had the privilege of speaking at the Curiosity VC & Code-V Future at Kennedy Van der Laan event, sharing my keynote on the Future of Equal Leadership.

Is this the prettiest picture of me? 𝐍𝐨 𝐚𝐛𝐬𝐨𝐥𝐮𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐨𝐭. Does it capture the energy, the conviction, and the drive I felt on stage? Absolutely.

Standing in front of a room full of 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐭, 𝐛𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭-𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞-𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐦𝐞𝐧, I spoke about what true gender equality in leadership means—𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘯𝘶𝘮𝘣𝘦𝘳𝘴, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢 𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘧𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦, 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴𝘦𝘵, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘺.

The takeaway?

The work isn’t done, but the momentum is real. Let’s keep pushing forward.

We zitten midden in een tijdperk waarin 𝘰𝘶𝘥𝘦 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘤𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘭𝘦𝘯 𝘦𝘯 𝘯𝘪𝘦𝘶𝘸𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘻𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘱𝘥𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘯. Niet iedereen voelt zich daar even comfortabel bij. Maar wie de toekomst niet actief vormgeeft, wordt erdoor gevormd.

Met die vraag begon ik vorige week het gesprek bij .academy

I’ve been working with AI for quite some time now—𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘵𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘺, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘢𝘶𝘴𝘦 𝘪𝘵’𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘢𝘣𝘭𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘯𝘦𝘳 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶𝘵𝘶𝘳𝘦. Tools like ChatGPT, who I named Barry, help me translate complex ideas into actionable strategies, and DALL.E allows me to visualize concepts—𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘴𝘦𝘦 𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦.

I asked Barry to create an image with all the information I shared with him about me before. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐢𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐀𝐈’𝐬 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧; 𝐢𝐭’𝐬 𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬. It’s a reflection of how technology can unlock the possibilities of tomorrow—𝘸𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘨𝘶𝘪𝘥𝘦𝘥 𝘣𝘺 𝘩𝘶𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘢𝘭𝘶𝘦𝘴.
