Sneakerplaats Interview with Buster Amstrup Hede ๐ฅ
My name is Buster Amstrup Hede, Iโm 41 years old and I live just outside Copenhagen in Denmark. I work as an Operations Specialist at a national bank and spend my free time with my wife, our two kids, friends and of course sneakers. My love for sneakers began when I was a teenager skating almost every day. I had a couple of sponsors back then, and anyone who skates knows how important the right shoes are if you want to progress. One of my favourite pairs at that time was the Chad Muska Circa CM703, a model I had in several colorways.
I canโt remember my exact first pair, but the pair that really kicked off my current collection was a white and purple Air Max 90 WMNS. From there I started experimenting and figuring out what worked for me. The sneaker that made me move from collecting skate shoes to sneakers in general was the Air Force 1.
Today my number one model is the Nike Air Max 1. For me itโs the perfect sneaker: the history, the shape, the comfort and the way it looks on foot. My collection is around 130 pairs, but Iโm downsizing with a goal of reaching about 100, focusing more on quality. My current top five includes the Air Max 1 OG Red, Patta Chlorophyll, Urawa 1.0, Atmos Animal 1.0 and the Atmos OG Safari.
The pair I still dream about is the Air Max 1 Cherrywood. I know some exist in my size, but the price makes it hard to commit. Most of my pairs come from other collectors or Instagram, and occasionally from stores. My best steal ever was finding the Air Max 1 Flamingos for 30 euros at a flea market.
My advice to new sneakerheads: stay true to yourself. Wear what you like, enjoy what you already have and connect with others. Sneakers should always be about passion and community.
