Tromp x Bladi Festival – On Saturday, September 6th 2025, Tromp Percussion Eindhoven will host a workshop with Alper Kekeç on Moroccan rhythms played on African drums, between 13.00 and 16.00, starting every half hour at the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven.

On that day, the concert hall will be transformed into a vibrant souk featuring authentic handcrafts, live performances, and delicious food and drinks from Moroccan cuisine. From traditional clothing and music to comedy and harira, the first edition of Bladi Festival promises to be a celebration of rich Moroccan culture.

Whether your roots lie in Morocco or you’re simply curious about the culture, during this family festival you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped straight into Marrakesh

🎉 It’s the 1st of July — time to finally unveil the big news! After many successful editions, we are proud to present a completely renewed structure for the TROMP International Percussion Competition.

In 2026, we will not only have one, but two competitions:

🥁 TROMP International Percussion Competition — A high-level solo contest for 10 top-tier percussionists, featuring a completely new format that encourages artistic risk and creative identity.

🥁 Introducing TROMP Next Gen: Mallet Competition — Welcoming 50 selected young marimba and vibraphone players from around the world.

👉 Check out the details about the two competitions on our website!

In 2020, the entire competition took place online 🦠, and our participants never had the chance to be in Eindhoven. 😔 But our photographer Claudia Hansen Photography wanted to make sure they became part of the Tromp family. 💡 She came up with a special idea: "I wanted the participants of 2020 to still have their moment in the small hall of the Muziekgebouw Eindhoven and be included in the Tromp photo archive. 📸 Because if you're not in the archive, you're often forgotten. So, I projected their video performances onto the walls of the small hall and photographed them this way — in the hall where they would have performed." 🎶 This is how our online edition was captured, after all. Check out these never-before-published photos! 👀 (more coming soon!)

2020 was a different kind of competition edition — no participants in the green room, no audience, just the crew of Eindhoven and Tromp taking care of the live-streams 📡 and making even Tromp Percussion Eindhoven 2020 happen!

About TROMP

Dr. Ir. Theo Tromp founded the Tromp Biennial in Eindhoven in 1970 because he felt young people had too few opportunities. Over forty years later the TROMP International Percussion Competition has become the leading competition for solo percussion in the world, the ideals of its founder close at heart, creating opportunities and a stage for young percussionists from around the world.

TROMP also invests in new audiences and repertoire for percussion. Every edition, compositions are commissioned to leading composers and new audiences are invited to visit the festival. TROMP provides master classes in solo percussion repertoire with members of the jury and laureates for potential candidates in Boston, Shanghai, Moscow and Tokyo during the Repertoire Days, previous to the competition.
