New Atlantic Ridge review!
"What strikes me most about this record: the atmosphere is great. It is heavy, often surreal and manages to create a mystique vibe. Screams, female vocals and guitar leads meets aggressiveness and flows back to serenity. This album isn’t about tremolo picking only., it’s about atmosphere. Sometimes unsettling, mostly dark but most of all highly unique. At times, the sound reminds me of the first album of The Gathering as well as the first albums of Paradise Lost, just listen to the guitar leads. Yet “Atlantic Ridge” is much, much more fiercer….at times. But also very calm when it shows its more introspective side. But when Atlantic Ridge starts shredding riffs fast times goes to a halt remembering the second wave of Black Metal. It sounds strange but it works, somehow."

I am not so hugely familiar with other genres than Black Metal. I have some Doom and Psychedelic albums and at times I find these highly enjoyable. It should be widely known by now that this Saturday marks the eighth edition of Diabolical Echoes, our yearly gathering! At Willemeen

Of course we will bring our full catlog* and most of our distro and all Zwotte Kring titles to the merch table. Accepting cash and pin.

This edition brings a lot of exclusivity with it, Bloedmaan will do an exclusive Dutch show, Suttungr lately stating that they will not play live after Diabolical Echoes at least till their new album. Verloren Vertellingen will be a second and last integral split show, this will be also the last time that Schavot will play as a live band & Hellevaerder will not play live this year anymore.

GogmaGore and Asgrauw will keep the black flame alive on stage afterwards!

The Verloren Vertellingen merch is sold out lately, same counts for the CD and Vinyl. We will sell the tape version next to Zwaertgevegt's titles that are relevant with the line up.

The result of slipping a MC in Floris Velthuis his hands; "Visually and thematically, the album is just as compelling. The striking cover depicts a grotesque sea monster lifting a ship from the ocean, as if taken from an old nautical map where the unknown was filled in with mythical creatures. This ties in perfectly with the album’s concept. Atlantic Ridge explores extremely remote and hostile regions, ranging from real locations to mythical and imagined places such as Tristan da Cunha and South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands. These settings serve as a framework for themes of isolation, survival, and human insignificance." 85/100
