Happy Ship is a computer animation and AR/VR studio based in Groningen, the Netherlands. We do animation productions as well as creating augmented and virtual reality experiences. Happy Ship was founded in 2000 by Bastiaan Hooimeijer, Harry Arling and Martin Venema. Amongst others we produced the animated short 'Olaf, happy little cannon' (http://happyship.com/olaf/), several video-installations a

n a travelling interactive multimedia-play. And of course we did our fair share of 3D visual effects for film, together with Planet X FX, music video's, bumpers, leader, commercials and the like over the past 15 years.

‘Weather One’ is het eerste deel van de gelijknamige cyclus die ‘Bang on a Can ‘oprichter en (minimal) componist Michael Gordon in 2005 schreef voor strijkorkest en electronics. In deze speciale uitvoeringen van ‘Weather One’ voegt het Kamerorkest van het Noorden daar nog een laag aan toe: Het mixt de live-muziek van het strijksextet met een Virtual Reality-omgeving. Happy Ship bouwde deze Virtual Reality ervaring rondom een van de grootste thema’s van deze tijd; de kwetsbare balans tussen mens en natuur.

‘Weather One’ is the opening work in a cycle written by ‘Bang on a Can’ founder and minimalist composer Michael Gordon in 2005 for string orchestra and electronics, inspired by the unpredictability of weather patterns.
In these special performances, Kamerorkest van het Noorden adds an extra layer: blending the live music of the string sextet with a Virtual Reality experience. Developed by Happy Ship, this VR environment centers on one of today’s most pressing themes—the delicate balance between humanity and nature.
