Shipping update

Due to the extremely busy time of year for postal services, we will temporarily stop shipping after next Wednesday. This period consistently brings delays, mistakes, and damaged parcels. We prefer not to put your orders at risk and will leave that seasonal mayhem to Amazon and similar platforms.

Important dates
• Orders placed up to Tuesday, December 16 will be shipped on Wednesday
• Shipping pauses after that date
• Shipping resumes on January 14, 2026

sunn O)))’s premier work on the maxi 12” medium for Sub Pop! It consists of three brand new tracks created and performed by the iconic duo of Stephen O’Malley and Greg Anderson and co-produced by sunn O))) and Brad Wood. Brad Wood recorded the material at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville and Sea Grass in Los Angeles in 2025. The tracks on this maxi 12” are the first official sunn O))) studio recordings to feature only the original core duo on heavily saturated electric guitars and synthesis.

sunn O))) gave extreme focus and care to each step and aspect of the recording, each tone and level of saturation, each gain stage and speaker, each arrangement and harmonic. The Pacific Northwest forest is our guide.

“Eternity’s Pillars” is named for the mid-1980s television program created and hosted by jazz visionary and spiritual guru Alice Coltrane Turiyasangitananda, focusing on her incessant belief in music’s capacity to attain spiritual transcendence. “Raise the Chalice” is named for a rallying cry often uttered by Northwest legend Ron Guardipee throughout the mid-1990s. “Reverential” equally pays respect and sends loud praise to those who came before us with the heaviest burdens, expressions with music and art being the materials of an antiphon.

The front cover of the maxi 12” depicts the duo in the woods northeast of Seattle, through the lens of Charles Peterson.

🔥 This weekend it’s time again for Desertfest Antwerp!
Burning World Mailorder will be there for our yearly pilgrimage — we think it’s the 6th or 7th time already, and it always feels like coming home. Great atmosphere, great food, great talks.

You’ll find us at the merch area inside, surrounded by vinyl, noise and good vibes. And when we’re not there… we’ll probably be watching some killer bands like Yob, Masters of Reality, Negative Blast, Bongripper and Castle Rat, to name just a few. Luckily, there’s some backup behind the stand this year 😅

This Saturday and Sunday, Burning World Mailorder will have a stand at the record fair in Haarlem, part of the Haarlem Vinyl Festival. Just like the past two years (this is the third edition), entrance is free and the venue is easy to reach by bike, train, or bus.

🚬⚡ Electric Wizard update (sort of) ⚡🚬

It’s been pretty quiet on the Electric Wizard front these last years. Apart from a live record in 2024, nothing new — their last studio album goes all the way back to 2017. Even represses of classics like Come My Fanatics… and Dopethrone haven’t surfaced in a while (time for a reissue, Rise Above Records?).

About the EP (2012, Rise Above Records)
• Released between Black Masses (2010) and Time to Die (2014) as a stop-gap EP.
• Title track Legalise Drugs and Murder quickly became a cult anthem: crushing riffs, raw production, and lyrics designed to shock, provoke and amuse.
• Originally issued as a 12”, with a very limited 7” and cassette (bonus tracks & demos).

The story / theme
• A deliberately provocative statement: pushing countercultural slogans into nihilistic, anarchic territory.
• Complete rebellion against the system, glorification of drugs, occultism, outsider culture.
• Psychedelic doom, layers of fuzz, distortion → a hallucinatory, lawless world in sound.

A few weeks ago I got an email from a customer who buys regularly from us — through Burning World, other mailorders and at live shows. He told me he needed more space at home and had selected 500 records that were still in great shape, but could go (I think we can all relate 🙂).

When I went to his house, I saw how well he treated his collection — the records looked brand new. With lots of titles from labels like Heavy Psych, Ozium, Majestic Mountain and Ripple, I knew I had to think carefully about an offer.

That’s when an idea came to me:
👉 Instead of buying them outright, why not sell them for him and split the profits 50/50?
• He doesn’t need the money right away
• I don’t need to pay a big sum upfront
• He ends up making more than with a straight offer

Win-win! 🎶

I can also take these records to festivals like Desertfest, Soulcrusher, Samhain, Sonic Whip and more, so visitors have an even bigger selection to browse. At the moment I’ve listed about 75% of the collection and the first sales are already coming in — so it’s working well for both of us.

✨ The Gathering Mandylion live tonight in Doornroosje, Nijmegen ✨

Tonight feels special. The Gathering are kicking off a run of 5 shows (ending this Sunday) at Doornroosje, the venue where I worked for 10 years back in the ’90s (and which I will be going to tonight to witness this first show). They’ll be performing their breakthrough album Mandylion in full, with Anneke van Giersbergen on vocals.

I remember interviewing them just before the release of Mandylion. At that time, they still had no idea how big things were about to get. With Always… they already had some underground success in the (death) metal scene, but Mandylion was the record that changed everything — critically acclaimed worldwide and the start of a long, successful career that continues to this day.

I saw them live many times with Anneke — the opening riff of Strange Machines (like the piano intro of Always…) still gave me goosebumps every single time.

Through the years I kept in touch with drummer Hans Rutten, which eventually led to last year’s 30th anniversary reissue of Always…. That debut opened the door to Mandylion and their deal with Century Media.
