Razende Roeland praat bij met Dragony.

Donderdagavond op de vertrouwde tijd van 21.00 uur is het weer tijd voor je metal vitamine, bij Omroep Zilt en Shine Radio. Voor als je het mist kan je op vrijdagavond luisteren via PowerPlant Radio Organisation ook om 21.00 uur. De ene plaat is nog mooier dan de andere en deze week spreek ik met Siegfried van Dragony.

De opening is deze week voor Raven, zij hebben een cover uitgebracht van een Metallica nummer. Raven is een heavymetalband uit Newcastle upon Tyne, opgericht in 1974 door de broers John en Mark Gallagher en Paul Bowden. Raven wordt gezien als een stijl vernieuwer binnen het heavy metal genre en maakte deel uit van de new wave of British heavy metal. Ik heb de eer gehad deze band en de leden er van te zien en spreken in Ommen alweer bijna 2 jaar terug.

Verder is er muziek van Soulbound en Dragony, waarna ik met Siegfried ga bellen. Om te horen hoe het afgelopen jaar is gegaan en wat er in de komende periode nog op het programma staat. Er zit nog wel een primeurtje in. Dragony is een power metal band uit Wenen, Oostenrijk, die elementen van symfonische metal in hun stijl verwerkt. Zij brachten vorig jaar hun vijfde album uit.

Nou heeft Nox Aeterna een cover uitgebracht van een Boney M. nummer, dus dat is ook wel iets om nieuwsgierig naar te zijn en er is muziek van Creeper USA..

Creeper is een metalband uit Texas die al sinds 2002 actief is in de muziekscene. Met Jimi Fritz en Paul Fritz op gitaar, Ian Train op bas, Kurtis Lawrence op drums en Texx Duncan op zang, brengen we een unieke mix van agressie, melodie en intensiteit in onze muziek. Ons geluid wordt gekenmerkt door zware riffs, donderende drums en krachtige vocals die je naar meer doen verlangen. Ga met ons mee op deze epische muzikale reis en ervaar de ware essentie van Texaanse metal.

Er komt ook muziek voorbij van Embers of Oblivion, Black Rabbit en Myrkur Skógur .

Wat kan men vertellen over Myrkur Skógur? Niks. Althans. Niet veel. Het is een nieuwe band van Nederlandse bodem en dat deze groep is neergestreken bij Zwaertgevegt, moet toch al de nodige duiding geven? De hoek van de muziek moge dan al duidelijk zijn. Flittermice Ov Hell is de cassette die Myrkur Skógur onlangs via die platenmaatschappij zag verschijnen. De black metal van Myrkur Skógur komt op Flittermice Ov Hell in vier tracks. Naast het inleidende ‘Intro’ zijn dat ‘Clinic Door’, ‘The Emperors Wrath’ en ‘Echoes On The Battlefield’. Gezien het label een fijn neusje heeft voor Nederlandstalige black metal, geldt hier dat de titels wel Engels zijn. De snerpende, kille black metal van Myrkur Skógur blijkt op Flittermice Ov Hell goed geïnspireerd door de Scandinavische jaren ’90 in het genre. De attack van ‘Clinc Door’ zal veel puristen in het vak goed doen. Het hakkende in combinatie met het felle maakt dat de black metal liefhebber dit met gemak zal oppakken. ‘The Emperors Wrath’ lijkt door de wraak wat zwaarder aangezet te zijn, maar bruist er niet minder om. ‘Echoes Of The Battlefied’, waar ook nog een mooie rol voor de verteller is weggelegd, sluit dit kwartet aan nummers op een felle doch mysterieuze manier af. Die verrassende ondertoon maakt de impact echter niet meer.

En als er nog tijd is komt de nieuwe single van Eye of Melian ook nog voorbij.

Biography: BLACK RABBIT

Black Rabbit is a concept-driven death metal band from Apeldoorn, The Netherlands, known forcombining relentless intensity with intricate storytelling and theatrical immersion. Their sound fuses death, thrash, and blackened elements into a grand, ritualistic experience — where every riff and lyric serves a purpose within an unfolding myth.

Forged by five musicians with distinct artistic backgrounds, Black Rabbit translates complex ideas into music that is both crushing and cinematic. Their live shows blur the line between concert and ceremony: drenched in light, smoke, and symbolism, drawing the audience deep into their dark mythology.

Black Rabbit made their first impact with the release of their debut EP and single in 2020, laying the foundation for their unfolding story of darkness and transformation. This path continued with the first full-length chapter of their legend: Hypnosomnia (2023) — an album exploring the boundaries of consciousness and dream manipulation. Building upon that, Chronolysis (2025) delved deeper into the human psyche — a sensory descent into the horror of sleep paralysis. These releases elevated the band to new heights, leading to performances in renowned venues such as Patronaat, Iduna, and even the Brabanthallen, while sharing stages with giants like Baest, Vader, Exhorder, and Pestilence.

Where Hypnosomnia and Chronolysis unravelled the tactics and techniques of the entity known as Black Rabbit, their upcoming EP ‘Warren of Necrosis’ dives into his inception — revealing the sacrifice, betrayal, and blasphemous devotion that transformed man into myth.



Warren of Necrosis

At the heart of the band lies the legend of Black Rabbit — a cursed being with a past drenched in faith, betrayal, and decay. Once a priest devoted to divine enlightenment, his lust for power led him down a path of desecration. What began with ritual animal offerings grew into a hunger for human sacrifice. His devotion turned to obsession, and the god he once worshipped cast him into exile.

In isolation, he encountered a mysterious entity — a shadow between worlds — who offered him the ability to halt time itself. The gift became a curse: eternal life at the cost of his humanity.

Slowly, he shed his humanity and transformed into a demonic entity — a Black Rabbit, the mirror of fertility, twisting the symbol of life into one of decay and extinction.

From the ashes of his faith, he forged his own doctrine: a blasphemous scripture written in despair, twisting sacred texts into a gospel of chaos. His followers, masked and devoted, carved a subterranean empire in his name — the Warren of Necrosis, a rotting labyrinth where sacrifices feed his hunger for dominion. At its heart stands a withered tree adorned with the bodies of the condemned, where Black Rabbit wields his colossal hammer of judgement upon the unworthy.



A Multimedia Experience

Musically, the EP expands the band’s sonic palette with haunting melodies, and ancient textures and ethnic instrumentation woven into the aggressive foundations of death metal. Each song unfolds a stage of corruption, a moment of sacrifice, or a whisper from the entity that granted him power — until the man is gone, and only the demon remains. Beyond the music, Black Rabbit manifests its concept through a complete artistic universe. Each release is accompanied by handcrafted artwork, stage design, and visual storytelling that deepen the immersion.

On stage, Black Rabbit embraces the role of prophets of the myth — cloaked in ritual garb, surrounded by candlelight and relics of their creation. Their performance is not merely a show, but a sermon; not entertainment, but invocation. With Warren of Necrosis, Black Rabbit opens the gates to the beginning of its own legend — a descent into the roots of corruption, identity, and transcendence. It’s a record that does more than tell a story; it creates a world — one that breathes, mutates, and devours. Once you enter the Warren, there is no return...

Before Evergrey embarked on their European tour with KATATONIA, the Swedish metal titans returned with a new song, “OXYGEN!”, channeling their essence with renewed intensity. Blending eerie atmospheres and crushing riffs, it delves into themes of depression and inner struggle. Fueled by their new drummer, Simen Sandnes, a fresh production team with Tom S. Englund and Vikram Shankar (Within Temptation, Silent Skies), and the mix of Adam “Nolly” Getgood – known for his work with giants like Periphery, Sleep Token and Architects – EVERGREY sound as vital as they did at their start, yet fiercely modern. “OXYGEN!” becomes both a desperate plea for resilience amidst darkness and a cathartic release – a visceral cry for air in the suffocating grip of turmoil.
