What is 'Inventing BE' about?

ok deep sigh... it is finally happening and it is really exciting to share this book with you, after years of work, but, now that it is going to be out there, it also feels very personal. Starting with this day that I am launching this pre-sales campaign where you can get your copy of the hardcover 'Inventing BE'

Today is the 14th September, exactly three years ago that I became BEflat… that I had the long desired surgery to remove my breasts. I had no cancer and I am not transitioning. I love my body, I just hated my breasts, but there was no medical language for that, so it took well over 40 years and a very special surgeon, to finally get that done.

I am 60 years old now and the founder and CEO of the Alinker, a company that I refer to as a vehicle for change. All the experiences I share in this book with you, in all the countries where I lived and worked, they all shaped me to build the Alinker company to become the company that it is today.

As I am preparing to launch the pre-sales campaign for my book 'Inventing BE', I came across this Romantic Bones tribute page again. A band I was part of between 1986-1988 and you can read about it in the book. Turbulent d**e years lol.

Growing up in the Netherlands, she had no language for what she felt about her body. How traditional society—including family members and teachers—viewed her did not align with how she identified from a very early age. In the stirring trenches of international humanitarian work across continents, BE discovered herself in places torn apart by volatile crises like Afghanistan, Kenya, Ethiopia, and Indonesia, positively affecting many others along the way.

BE has seen sights and peeked beneath oppressive systems most wouldn’t dare. In the process, she learned that to live a rich life, one had to confront the darkness of humanity to turn on the light of true freedom—in mind, body and spirit. Inventing BE is both memoir and manifesto dedicated to anyone who has ever had to conform or compromise their authentic self. You are never alone, and in the strangest, most far-flung places, you may be right at home.

Miracles do happen

Caitlin is a girl who has Cerebral Palsy, lives in Johannesburg South Africa and found out about the Alinker, started dreaming how this would change her life and then she started a campaign.

I am seeing this and thinking s**t, we have no stock of Alinkers in South Africa at the moment.
As I am trying to get shipping quotes to ship one from either the Netherlands or Taiwan, we find out that a friend is flying to SA for a holiday, and she is happy to carry the Alinker! We are so grateful for your kindness Andrea!

So I just launched Caitlin's incredible story in her campaign, showing her super powers, radiant character, as she will have her Alinker next week! She does not know yet, but let's complete her campaign before she finds out!

This will be the surprise of her life!

Caitlin has fought her whole life to literally get onto her feet. This is more than a walking bike, this is about her future, belonging, mobility, freedom, agency and connecting with each other in kindness, feeling whole.
