A founding member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Bishop helped shape that gritty Chicago blues sound of the 1960s before stepping out on his own in the ’70s. His down-home humor and slide guitar style made him a favorite among classic rock fans, especially with hits like “Fooled Around and Fell in Love” — a song that still sounds as smooth and soulful as ever.

From the Fillmore days to endless jam sessions with legends like B.B. King and the Allman Brothers, Elvin’s joyful spirit and unmistakable guitar tone have made him one of rock’s most likable and enduring musicians. Here’s to a lifetime of good-time blues and unforgettable grooves.
