Review: Wyrdwraak – Schimmenheim

“The project reportedly hails from the southern Netherlands and shares members with Suttungr, whom I recently saw live at Musicon in The Hague. The two core members go back over twenty years and have now joined forces to carve out a shared creative outlet in Wyrdwraak. A notable twist: the drummer trades his kit for vocals and keyboards, while the drums (for now) are handled by a machine. A drum computer is usually a downside for me - call it a matter of stubborn principles. Yes, I know, I should move with the times… But credit where it’s due: they pull it off, thanks to convincingly executed drum samples.”
