They Taught Me, a song with so many layers for me. I wrote this song around 4 years ago, when I still lived here, at the Portuguese coast. A song about the importance of unlearning and really getting to know ourselves. Also the song that got written in the book of and the beginning point of fully going for music. The road into the unknown.

It’s so beautiful how songs can have so many layers and different meanings through the years. I’m happy to be back for some weeks and to play this for the fields and lands in beautiful southern Portugal.

Beltane. Een eeuwenoude Keltische viering, het vruchtbaarheidsfeest. Het begin van de zomer, licht, passie, creatie, ook wel ‘het vuurfeest’ genoemd. Onze voormoeders- en vaders vierden de natuurlijke cyclus en Het Wiel. En nu, duizenden jaren later is het weer tijd ons te herinneren aan wat onze voorouders vierden. Niet alleen om samen te komen, maar om onze verbinding met onszelf, het onzichtbare en de natuur te herstellen.

Deze reis is een verweving van zowel de medicijndrum als onze stem. We openen de cirkel met een meditatie met de drum om vervolgens onze stemmen te laten klanken in samenzang. Alle muziek is zelfgeschreven, intuïtief en vanuit het hart.

Just a few days and then it’s time.. Walk with Spirit (The South) will be released. In a time where division is being displayed, is singing together and singing for ourselves so inportant. This mantra is a reminder for our connection to Spirit and love. “Walk with Spirit, walk with love and they walk you home.” I can’t wait to share this one with you and… there will be a surprise coming with it 👀

Today marks a full circle for me.

It has almost been a year ago.
A year ago, I packed my bags, loaded my car with my stuff and moved away from almost 4 years Portugal.

This year, grief stood on my doorstep, recovery and adventure. I left my 5 year relationship, moved back to my home country and tried to walk my own path again. I met the most amazing human beings, I carved a path unknown to many, including myself and I poured my soul into music.

I am beyond grateful for everything and everyone on this journey. I couldn’t think once that life could get this good. That I’m surrounded by love, family, friends, music and that I have the most amazing “job” in the world.

As tears are rolling down my cheek, I want to say that I love you all and I wish for us all to find that coherent state of being in our hearts. I believe that this is our true purpose.

Thank you all so much Sophia, Kimm, Zala, Joy, Chris, Monique, Steef, Nienke, Jacob, Alex, Kevin, Mishka, Iris, Kim, Annick, Jessica, Yuri, Cait, Dewi, Sandra, my grandparents and all of you. If you don’t see your name here, don’t worry, you’re in my heart ❤️
