With annual sales of 9500 breeding animals and 34,000 bob calves, ProRind plays an important economic function for dairy farmers in the far south of Germany. In addition, the just four-year-old (resulting from a merger) organization is the largest herdbook in Bavaria, the state where Holstein breeding has made strong advances in recent years.

Feed efficiency is one of the most important indicators in dairy production. And though many farmers will agree with this assessment, in practice it is often the case that they donโ€™t actually know what their feed efficiency is. Especially in Europe, the advance of polled continues at a rapid tempo. At the top of lists, more and more often we are finding P and PP sires, who are being used on an increasingly broader scale by dairy farmers. With the rising use of sexed semen and beef-on-dairy, the number of bulls able to reach one million doses of semen sold is drastically dropping. Only international favourites with high longevity are still able to reach the status of Holstein millionaire. Currently, the world has 59 Holstein millionaires. Among them, the number of Red Holstein bulls is very limited; logically, as the number of red & white Holsteins is limited. In 2008, the Dutch bull Kian-Red became the worldโ€™s first Red Holstein millionaire โ€“17 years ago. However, now it seems that Kian-Red will receive company.
