Knowledge about genetic correlations is essential in our industry. Some examples: it is known that milk volume has a strong correlation with protein volume. And it is known that fat production is negatively correlated to DPR (daughter pregnancy rate). But: correlations are no fixed numbers, they change over time due to breeding directions. Nate Zwald, born, raised and active at Bomaz Farms in Wisconsin โ and a well-known name in the Holstein industry, as he has worked at ABS and Alta for many years โ recently took a look at these figures again, and discovered some remarkable changes.
